The only thing I’m afraid of is how retaliation is going to happen. People are hunky dory saying re-election is a shoeing, but if the next guy is more batshit insane than Bin Laden, you can expect that they’ll just fucking go the entire distance in full out fucking the west up worst than 9/11. It kind of makes me wonder how capable a leader Bin Laden was and if there were any people within his ranks that were more capable to the point of being able to enact some of the plans that CIA or FBI say are going to hit us hard.

Probably true, but at the very least if it could put them into disorder for a few months. If we capitalize on this period to exterminate a few more of the key players in Al Quada now, then I guess it’s very worth celebrating. That’s a big if though.

You’ll always find some crazy sucker willing to step up to the plate and move forward when it comes to fanatics. There isn’t much we can do about that. At best you can kill them when you can and hope that disrupts their operations enough to lower the risk.

The other option is doing nothing and getting pummeled.

But whatever was left of Al Qaeda was in shambles anyways, so it’s unclear what exactly this gets us other than the ability to pat each other on the backs. It puts an end to a bad chapter in our history. And Patraeus is now the general that turned Iraq around and got Osama, putting him on the level of Ike, I wonder if he’s going to launch a presidential run.
