Sure, but you understand all that shit already happened, right? It would like not celebrating that Japan surrendered after WWII, because the war had cost so many lives. If there is any moment you should be happy about it is this one, because this one is unequivocal. It becomes a philosophical question- do good things in the future/present matter less because bad things have happened in the past?
In this particular case the entire war effort became a juggernaut, because once we were in, pulling out carried a lot of risk, as did staying- this is why the word quagmire is used. America did not go to War-Mart and pay thousands of lives, trillions of dollars, etc, and buy an Osama bin Laden. It was not a direct transaction, this was a result of an already ongoing effort.
