Depends on who you ask:
Some people would say it’s because of the effectiveness of the US’s war on terror, thus justifying the trillions spent on the military and some losses of civil liberties for American citizens.
Others will say that there hasn’t been an attack because the US orchestrated the entire 9/11 attack as part of an incredibly complicated and vast master plan for world domination or something like that.
hahaa.
there you go again. You keep shifting your position: The capture is impossible->well maybe the capture is possible but they wouldnt be able to get him out alive->well they could get him out alive but he would be an impediment…
yes, of course i can see how they would be impeded (meaning hindered/slowed down, not stopped altogether/made impossible). How big of an impediment would binladen be was my point, esp given the intel payoff. And as I said it didnt seem unreasonable that the team couldnt have done this if indeed binladen was cowering in fear like some accounts had claimed. i dont know
anyway, I cant really keep chasing down your argument in motion
Seriously, this has to be the dumbest narrow minded post i’ve ever seen on here.
Go on believing the propaganda they feed you, it’s working out well for you, saying that that the Islam is pretty much a warlike religion. I mean, really? Have you ever met normal muslims that go to school or go to work just like any other normal person?
The US have been fucking around in the middle east for decades and they’ve had enough, that’s why militant groups were formed.
Try to picture the same shit those people had to go through everytime the US barges in violently bringing ‘peace’ and ‘democracy’, you wouldn’t be happy right?
Bringing peace and democracy is just a standaard excuse, the US has always been there for self enrichment and then you have the nerve to call the inhabitants of invaded countries warlike?
Bringing peace and democracy by (brute) force, and shooting innocent unarmed civilians for fun.
If you look at it from a non american perspective the US government/military is the biggest terrorist organization in the world, yeah i said it.
Man some people here are fucking stupid, if Bin Laden was walking down the street I would have shot his ass in the head and risked jail time. Fuck all this hypothetical humanitarian bullshit.
hooooolly cow what a crock of shit, that place has been a fucking hotbed of religious and sectarian strife for millenia, the US can come and it can go and nothing is going to change there
sunnis vs shites is not an american invention
Anybody who thinks Osama didn’t deserve death must be smoking something. That guy deserved more than a gun shot, and i bet if you guys had loved ones in that 9/11 you would seriously lust for harsh revenge on that guy and the rest of the terrorists. You call that righteous judgment. OBL was not sadistically retaliated, he was just put down. Lastly, It’s not just the lives that where taken away, but the families that where emotionally killed along that day. It would be immoral and ungodly to not serve justice and just let him off free. It would only be considered morally wrong if we fuckin tortured his ass to death as a retaliation because it would make us no different from him.
A gunshot to him was the right thing to do. Just erase his ass physically and let God be the ultimate punisher and justifier on his soul.
Imo, they should go after all the terrorist heads. I do think Osama could of had a few “apostles” running around his nuts; he could of also made “if they manage to kill me here’s what you guys should do” diaries or something… so just to decrease threats for any retaliation. we need to end them.
You know, when you think about it. For america to actually not release any pictures/videos is a SMART move. Bin Laden Death photos can trigger allot of emotions towards the Arab people, especially those who believed in him. I mean photos of his death would solidify allot of their emotional hatred towards america; they can even use OBL’s photos and make all sorts of media in the middle east that poses OBL as a martyr and how america is evil, and further poison the minds of the people over there.
Sometimes it is safer to have the rest left in doubt sometimes, i mean the logic on it is “if you don’t want to believe it, thats up to you”. It’s a safer thing to do to hide OBL’s photos from the public.
They’ve been slaughtering each other over Sunni, Shia, and other reasons since before the US even existed. With various groups, granted they’ve graduated from swords to bombs, but they still love the classic head removal. The only periods of stability were brought up under single, very brutal, leadership that united the region. And then was prone to go about attacking the crap out of everybody around it, and even that had militant groups running around causing chaos before they were brutally snuffed out.
Osama’s wife was shot in the leg during the raid, I wonder what has happened to her? The 2 children and her are probably in some kind of secret custody, but I’m sure she has copious amounts of information to reveal, not just about the incident but how/why/when of Osama’s doings.
im not saying I dont feel the same as this, but the fact that you admit you would be risking jail time belies a belief that such an action may be illegal. So I cant say I see your point.
The US always feels the need to intervene wherever, even if the conflict won’t affect them.
And yes, Al Qaida was formed to oppose the western world and the US in particular. Since the topic is about OBL this is pretty relevant.
Did you see fishjie’s post? That one scares me the most. All of Islam is NOT militant.
Fuck, last night I had a huge post that linked to a FBI report and I had a pie chart and everything, just to absolutely destroy that thought. But I fell asleep and my laptop shut itself down. I’m dumb for being up at 1 am reading this thread I guess.
Actually, the very book of Islam, its foundation, the Koran, is extremely militant.
Historically (I realize that most of you bleeding heart libs and “others” suffer from acute myopia in this regard) Islam was a militaristic, bloodthirsty machine of conquest, from the moment Mohamed created it in order to unite his people to wage war on whomsoever happened to have what he wanted.
Which its pretty much the entire world (as the lunatic wrote in the Koran, all of the world belongs to Allah - ergo whatever anyone else has who is not Muslim was “stolen”).
The only peace Islam had ever practiced or preached, is the peace of the sword.
The thing is, people will quote “passages of peace” from various religious texts (e.g. bible and quran) while purposely ignoring the texts that clearly advocate extreme violence.
When the Moslems invaded Northern Africa in 647 A.D. they dealt with infidels (i.e., anyone who is not Moslem) in a very simple manner- either they submitted themselves to the will of Allah, or die. Some smaller tribes and nomads actually were wiped from history simply because they did not accept. This meant every man, woman, and child were slaughtered with complete religious justification.
This was done by the order of a caliph, someone who should know the Quran’s teachings with absolution and is the direct successor to the prophet Muhammad himself. So I don’t know how there can be any doubt about what the Islamic doctrine represents, regardless of the existence of moderate or casual Moslems.
I just now looked up the real definition of militant, and yeah historically islamic people do fit the bill. But isnt it a bit exaggerated to think every muslim out there is a potiential wackjob ready to use violence to get what they want? Don’t you think?
I’m not saying we should take islamic terrorism lightly, obviously the death of 3000 innocent lives shouldn’t be taken lightly. But I think a lot of us Americans are a bit too fire and brimstone to islamic people in the middle east.
And the Christian crusades were not? Believe in Jesus or you and your family will be slaughtered as heretics? Make these people believe in a white messiah? cough entire continent of Africa cough
LOL this thread is full of ignorance “all muslims are potential terrorists and the Islam is a militant religion” You people clearly haven’t been to the middle east or any Muslim country for that matter. Suddenly i feel the need to look at this golden oldie:
