Don’t get me wrong. I can understand people being happy about it, especially if they lost people during the attacks, but acting like it actually changes anything and “partying” about it just proves who fucking ignorant people are.
It’s not like civil liberties are automatically going to back to pre-2001 norms or that those who are imprisoned wrongly at Guantanamo, which is distressingly almost everyone it seems, are going to be released now despite having gotten “our man” after a decade. This doesn’t really change shit outside of being a morale boost and making it somewhat more likely that Obama will win re-election. Hurray.

I wouldn’t go that far. Let’s boil it down to the basics. Osama is blamed for 9/11. People have been sacrificed to capture or kill him. Someone finally does. People cheer. I think that’s called justice and honestly jubilation is what follows. Let’s not forget why this thread even exists.
