Hey Orlando, good to see you finally got the game, but goddamn that lag was AWFUL. I couldn’t even throw qcf FIREBALLS, it was that bad (that was why you saw my Fina and Nagar doing nothing but walk jabs instead of chucking plasma). After that I just kinda panicked and started mashing. The netcode in this game seems pretty hit-or-miss.
I like this game, but there’s no way I’m ever playing it online again. If you want to play it at Nestor’s sometime or something, I can drag out my PS3 and we’ll play it there.
EDIT: On a productive note, you played well and you have a pretty decent team to boot. Here’s my two cents:
Ramda: Put him first, or second if you have Elion on your team. He has very annoying pokes and does decently with or without meter. He’s probably a bit more vulnerable to fireballs than Elion, but can do easier damage with super to make up for it.
Elion: Put him in first. I don’t think his super options are as good as Ramda’s, but his pokes seem just about as good and he’s got a good fireball for controlling space, so depending on the matchup you can switch between hammering people with jabs or chucking air fireballs to control space.
Nagar: She’s pretty nuts with meter, and her zoning makes her an excellent 3rd. Fina has a better fireball, but Nagar does pretty much everything else better. She can link into her light attacks off her overhead, cancel her overhead into her fireball chain which LAUNCHES, and then after collecting a nice juggle off of that, she can go right back to poking and zoning.
She’s not quite as retarded as Vritra and Nsidor (the one due to his easy infinite and the other to being retarded AND having a nasty infinite), but dammit, she’s close.
Nsidor and Vritra: Good God, I HATE those two. Vritra is hard enough to zone, he’s got pokes that clash with everything and crazy mobility (with threat of infinite combo), but Nsidor just kills Fina for free.
Even if I could have thrown fireballs against Nsidor, it wouldn’t have helped that much; all he needs to do is clash and spit fire to get rid of her fireballs, walk her into the corner (fairly easy with Nsidor’s pokes) and bullshit her with his vastly superior pokes.
Both are quite capable of killing entire teams without meter, so they get a lot of mileage out of going 1st. If you learn those two characters, I’ll start working on my stick throw.

Guys, I’m starting Ranbats up again soon. This time a little different from previous seasons. I want Tampa to be involved this go around, and would like to host it at the Play N Trade in Waterford. Ranbats will be for BOTH SSFIV and Blazblue! Morton matches is returning, also. First Ranbat, I want to MM Jeff Reed in BlazBlue for a dinner at TGIF. What day would be best for a weekly hosting? Rules are open for discussion.
Tournament: Double Elimination/ Round Robin?
Matches: 2 out of 3 / 5 round match?
Ultra: Winners keep same / changes?
Pot entry: $2/4$/$5?

How do you guys feel about doing this on a Wednesday? That’s the day that I first attended Ranbats at Face’s crib downtown last year, and it seemed to work well for everybody. Wednesday, 7:30ish, $2 if it goes towards a seasonal pool, $5 if it goes directly to the winner, or with a 75/25 payout to 1st and 2nd place for the evening. My $0.02.

Has the community gotten bigger since I left? Is everyone on BlazBlue now? I actually enjoyed that game, but ended up putting more time in SF4 since that’s what the majority played. I haven’t played CS yet.

I played a random marathon with a couple of online opps last night, and out of around 40 matches, I got a Zangief Ultra 2 mirror match THREE different times. Wonder what the odds are (or how ‘random’ it really is). Gief U2 is undoubtedly most useless against Gief lol.
