Orlando Thread:CEO 2011 Early Bird Ends Monday

My friend supposedly found a 150-something-hit combo on accident with Dante. Don’t ask me how he got it, I wasn’t there (hence “supposedly”).

prolly a good thing you aren’t going to final round then eh?

Seriously, is there anyone in Orlando who does NOT want to play Dante?

But honestly, I don’t blame them. From what little time I have had with the game, finishing “simpler” combos with him felt rewarding. I can kinda see where people say this game is an easier Marvel, but at least the shortcuts from derpville are gone.

It’s not really ease-of-use that attracts people to Dante (really, it’s not…he’s definitely one of the harder characters I’ve ever seriously tried to play), it’s how screamingly, awe-inspiringly versatile he is. I’ve been following this character since he was announced, and just watching John Martin and Rafy thrash around with the game, I found moves and move properties that I didn’t even know he had. Dante is less a character than he is a toolbox, or a Lego set, or some shit. You can turn him into anything you want.

He has homing projectiles, Deadpool guns, OTG guns, slow air fireball, relaunch tools out the yinyang, projectiles that cover his advance, projectiles that shield his upper body, ground bounces, wall bounces, a homing teleport, an air dash forward or back, a double jump, a command hop for jump cancels (just found that out today), crossups, anti-airs, air pokes, ground pokes, a power-up super, DHC utility, and an amazing AAA that fills combos as well.

This character can teach you Arabic in five easy lessons. NOTHING is beyond the scope of Dante’s ability. The only limit is LITERALLY your imagination. Dante IS MvC3.

i thought i was going to final round… ultra is at the end of march. FR is at the beginning.

BTW, akuma is kinda crazy. i easily got magic > hurricane kick > fierce > hurricane kick > super fireball in corner with him. and hes so fuckin fast. but alas super skrull and taskmaster are too cool to pass up. so if anyone more knowledgeable has any suggestions i would love a third. or some sort of team suggestion built around them cause i have no idea what im suppose to be doing.

Never said he was easier to play. All I said was I had to build up the combos slowly and figure out more and more complicated ones since air timing can be a little strange at times. Hell, it took me a little to get use to the spiking and re-launch in combos.

I wanted to do both but that would be too expensive, so I’m going to wmc just booked my room

As cheesy as it sounds Ben’s got a point, Dante has SO many options!!! I need this game so I can just go to the lab and figure things out, but it was a nice arcade feeling of just doing shit without knowing…just like mashing/freestyling what you’re going to do next. Everytime i someone good played, I learned something new or an “Oh I forgot I could do that” type of scenario. The game is definitely all it’s cracked up to be and more!!! After Tuesday and we ALL have it…things are going to get pretty interesting. So far my team works extremely well together, and i wouldn’t have it any other way. I just need to learn each of my characters (Mainly Ammy and Dante…Sentinel is so retarded any one can play him!!!) Also it took me a while to get used to playing sentinel with the non MvC2 Layout…i kept trying to do HSF like i would and MvC2…and eat a combo…

Shoutouts to Kenny for bringing the set, Ben for being Jesus, John Martin for beating up scrubs for fun…and bodying me completely that one round :[…, Combatwombat for showing his face and playing the game, Yaysian for reminding me I’m free, and Anthony M. GGs to you sir and i look forward to seeing you around more with MvC3 out and stuff!!!

MAHVEL IS HERE, AND IT IS GREAT!!!

Yeah, definitely mad props to Kenny for allowing some of the unluckier among us a chance to enjoy the tar out of Marvel for 7 hours straight. I can’t wait until next week when I can actually sit down in Training/Mission mode. Maybe it’ll help me decide on a team for once.

Shout outs to broken shit!!! IT’S MVC3 LETS GO!!!

I have mix feeling about Taskmaster. I think he’s a good point man, but with Dante, Deadpool, and Storm being a better point I don’t see him on any useful team. Still haven’t decided who’s going to be my team. Thor, Storm, and X-23 are my lab team so far. Not alot of videos to steal ideas from. Hey, Anthony are you playing Thor? We need to brainstorm if you are.

Yo real talk, somebody needs to bring an MvC3 set up on saturday!

Stop talking about Marvel please!!!

Just 5 more days before I can inject the Marvel needle into my veins.

goes sits in corner and rock back and forth

“marvels coming, marvels coming, marvels coming”

I’m gonna be stuck in Fort Myers on Friday with no MvC3. :frowning:

Lots of time in training mode is gonna be required for this. I think I have a good handle on Wesker now, I just need to go in the lab with Dante for like five hours. I also need to ponder on a third character. Sadly it may be Sentinel. I’m really liking Haggar but I don’t know if he synergizes well with the rest of my team.

Played some more of the game with Jeff on crappy pads at Best Buy earlier. So far I’m looking at Chun (legs)/Sentinel(bombs)/Dante(AAA). Chun’s pressure is absolutely fucking bananas. So deliciously Q-Bee. Sent is Sent, and of course we all know my stance on Dante by now. As for Jeff…you guys better watch out for Tron. Just saying.

One infatuation I didn’t expect…MODOK. He’s weird, to be sure, and I thought I wouldn’t like playing him at first, but there was something strangely empowering about tripping people over Analyze Cube and acid spew while I pecked at them with his beams. Of course, I’d have to come up with a whole other team just to prop up his big-headed greatness…but I’ll be giving him a closer look once I get regular access to training mode.

John, I don’t think Haggar’s that bad on your team. I know it’s early, but Wesker and Dante have such great synergy already that Haggar’s more of a bonus than anything else, and with all the shit X-Factor can give him (not just damage boost but guard-cancel craziness…let them get in on you, XFC blockstun and see how hard you can punish them…or just DHC him out of there), I think he’s worth keeping on as an experiment in matchups where he’s not quickly and obviously screwed. Use him to probe your opponent and see what happens – if Haggar dies, you still have Wesker and Dante and can work from there.

X-Factor seems to be changing a lot about weird team dynamics…the stuff it can grant a single character is so ridiculous that (IMO) you can more afford to have a character on your team who’s not quite in line with your other members. Either he dies early and leaves the “good” part of your team with X-Factor and meter to make up for his failing, or he’s the last man standing with the nuclear option of level 3 X-Factor -> level 3 super.

Iron man, Sent and Deadpool. Got a 800,000 combo with iron man today just need to master his movement and I’m good!

Good games to everyone that came over tonight. Flash was in town for Barfights this weekend and he knew some good Marvel shit. Hulk is too good for easy damage. I’m loving Marvel but there really is so much to the game none of us have seen yet. Anyways see you guys Saturday at Barfights. I know Tampa doesn’t wanna come cause they are hooked on Marvel lol. We’ll have a Marvel setup at Barfights for casuals.

Damn it, now I have to go. THANKS A LOT JEBAILEY

I saw people playing MvC3 at Valencia East today…I guess I was fortunate I picked today to actually buy something from the cafeteria. Was it anyone from here?

good game to everyone tonight lol marvel is insane cant wait to sit down and play in training mode.
