The fact you guys are trying to compare the poor social treatment of homosexuals in the United States over the last century, to countries where they are, by the government and legal system itself, executed or imprisoned, is laughable. The absolute desperation to deflect harsh criticism on Islam is mind boggling. Islam stands against just about every single thing the Western world holds as an ideal, yet they are somehow never supposed to held under the light of reason and judged. No, it’s Christianity, or the Wests lack of tolerance, or some other cockamamie bullshit that is to blame, not Islam.
Looks less to me like they are deflecting blame from Islam but are instead saying all religions including Islam have this problem. Because they do.

No. We have been over this numerous times. No religion is perfect, and they have all committed their fair share of atrocities, but Islam stands alone atm in their violence, intolerance, etc. They are literally stuck in the Stone Age.
To be fair, the only thing that stands in the way of Christianity doing much the same, is secular law.
Sharia Law is the result of putting all your stock into a literal interpretation of an ancient text, and never advancing/progressing beyond that era. One major difference between Islam and even the other Abrahamic religions is that Islam basically calls for its people to establish theocracies, while the others focus more on individual conduct. Many Muslims in the West actually did modernize because they couldn’t get away with literal interpretations of the Koran around other religions. Governments in the Middle East are the result of getting to run a government strictly by what a holy book says.
As an atheist that despises religion, I feel pretty dirty having to defend Christians. But the fact of the matter is, as much as all the religions are equally bad in their lack of reason they are NOT all equally bad in the same way all the time. We fought hard to reach where we are, and have to fight to get where we ought to be. Islam hasnt had their fight. It is a religion that’s still in its infancy and throws violent tantrums constantly

As long as we’re allied with Israel we will never stop getting involved in the Middle East. The state department just issued a cable with 50 or so diplomats and personnel demanding we attack Syria, despite the fact most of our military commanders have warned that getting involved there will just be another huge morass. All because Israel wants Assad gone. Even if Obama continues to refuse to do so, as he has up to this point, his successor will be another story. Hilary will certainly get involved and has said as much, as well as openly threatening Iran, and Trump is a wild card on the issue, since he has said he doesn’t believe in getting involved in costly wars “unless we get something out of it”.
Putin recently said that if Hilary is elected war with the United States is inevitable, likely referring to the fact that Russia is allied with both Syria and Iran and would intervene militarily if we attack those countries. In other words, the Middle East may actually be the trigger to World War 3. All because our leaders can’t just leave a worthless region the fuck alone.
