Hi everyone I’m brand new to the forums but a huge fan of classic arcade games. I have mint condition original dedicated Street Fighter 2 “The World Warrior” Arcade Cabinet which is one of the centerpieces of my home arcade. I joined the forum to learn more about the history of this game in the series and info on the early Capcom cabinets. Below are a few pictures of my SF2WW cabinet and my home arcade.
I got the cabinet in Rock Hill, SC. It was in private ownership since the early nineties and only saw a few years of “rotation” in real arcades. It is a 100% original dedicated Capcom Street Fighter 2 World Warrior cabinet. Its is not a conversion. When I purchased it the cabinet still had the original manuals inside.
My brother and cousins and myself used to mockingly call him “GEEL” sometimes back in the day.
Vega-Bison gets called “Monsieur Bison” a lot here in french-speaking Quebec, since the abbreviation for “mister” is simply “M.” in french, as opposed to “Mr.” in english.
When I was a kid I used to say Guile almost like “ghoul”, but it’s definitely pronounced like the word “guile”. Because it’s a word. And Ryu is pronounced like “ryu”, because that’s a word too. In Japanese. It’s a word. Hope I totally just cleared everything up.
Wow, I’m kind of jealous of your garage ^^
SF2WW is still fun to play to this day, but throws do so much damage it’s obscene, especially when used to USF4
I actually was stationed in Okinawa Japan when I was in the USMC and got to play the Japanese SF2 CE! Its interesting how different Arcade cultures developed in both countries. In Japan most of the cabinets are very generic with very little artwork.
Thanks for the comments on the garage! I have 11 games in there and two more that we rotate in from time to time.
