Oregon Roster & Discussion (info on the 1st page)

salem does stufff… or soemthing.

People wonder why I don’t post or show up to shit. I check out the site for the first time in ages only to find some people taking shots at me from behind the keyboard. Typical.

hahahaha

lmao hence why we call you GRAYSALT. I woulld take shots at you in person but you never show up. Online shots will have to do 4 now.

Baited

That buffy avatar is hella wack btw

If you can’t handle shit from Portland’s lowly crew, how the fuck did you manage up in Seattle? lol

I’d say go hard or go home, but we already know where you are.

I’ve been thinking about this all day, and just happened to stumble into this thread on accident. I have the idea for rules based on a system like this in my head and will see if i can flesh them out if there’s actually interest.

With all the talk about an online day and an updated database, maybe this should be something brought up to the SRK community as a whole…this is a php based management system. it shouldn’t be hard to add a section to their CMS to have gamertags, etc added, and a good scripter could design an interface to pull up that kind of info out of their database.

I’ve been thinking about doing something like this for the NW after speaking with cole 2 weeks ago. I was thinking of an online DB with gamer tags and such, as well as casuals and tourney results…kinda like an online scorecard of matches. It would add some legitimacy to claims about who the “best” is. Players could announce that they want a match to count for ranked before play, and the results would be posted to the site. the database could be searched to pull up who has the best record with each character, who has the most wins in various regions, which character gets used the most, etc.

We’d have to establish certain criteria for ranked matches…for example, ranked matches can only occur at casuals or at certain events. this way there are witnesses to the ranking. A ranked match has to be agreed upon by all players before starting the match…if anyone decides they do not want it ranked, it doesn’t count.

But i digress. I think that this could be a very valuable tool for the community done right. I’ve got the hosting ability, though my php coding ability is n00btastic at best.

is this what it sounds like when doves cry?

Member card system:

I created this in hopes to help make tournament organization and/or rank/ladder recording easier. This may also help in making the FGC look more legit.

This is why I think it’ll help to have a universal system.

1: Speedy entry in tourneys/ranking/ladders of all sizes.
2: Helps match a player’s name to a handle. How many of us only know each other by handle and not real name? (or vice versa)
3: Ever play in an arcade or online and someone asks you, “Are you on SRK?” Now you can show them your own VFC card today!

There is no cost to enter (donations accepted!) , and the only commitment a player has is to keep the member number(#) assigned. All players can update their information and/or leave the program at any time. VFC reserves the right to refuse or terminate any membership at any time for any reason.

The physical card will be the same size as a standard business card.

NOTE: This is just one of my ideas that I plan to use in the future. If someone would like to help or improve this concept, contact me.

After what I would consider not my best night with Ryu I was headed towards being salty, until I saw the above picture. Its goodness in fact made me unsalty. How ironic.

Mmmmm…lobsterrrrrr

Check your PMs. I live in Mac and am down to play almost when ever!

So, I went to a couple Random Select Events way long ago and got really excited about everything… But I stopped going for no good reason. It’s been long enough that nobody would probably remember me but I’m up for games offline or on PSN if anybody else is. I’m still not all that awesome skill-wise but those were good times even when I got destroyed. I’d like to play local more often and up my game.

Handle: trueSpark
Name: Grant
Location: Clackamas Area
PSN: trueSpark
AIM: Will get one, their website seems buggy as of now
Competitive: SSF4
Casual: Pretty much everything else. HDR, Third Strike and KOF are always fun.
Can I Kick It?: My place is unfortunately not conducive to kicking it, but I have a car and can help move people and equipment if needed. So yes, as long as it’s not too last-minute.

This would be way cool, especially in coordination with the Oregon+ Ladder system I’m working on. If you can host, we just need a programmer.

You might’ve seen me hanging out with BBH at tournaments but not actually participating myself. I’m finally introducing myself to the community since I’m going to Evo this year. Force of habit, but I usually only give out my AIM info on a need to know basis.
I don’t hold much faith in my ability to compete in 2D fighters, but I’ll play almost anything for fun. I’m always up for gettin’ more experience. I’m also into various music games (beatmaniaIIDX, DDR, Rock Band, DJ Hero, Drummania, etc) and Phantasy Star Online/Universe/Zero/Portable 2

Handle: nohman/schlagwerk

Can I kick it? yes, with notice. I host, but my place is invite only due to the eclectic mix of games and limited space

Respect.

Alright~ been talking to Kev about this and I’ve been a bit out of the loop due to work issues but here it goes.

Thinking about just hosting casuals for SSF4 at my place here in Salem on Thursday, sometime around 5:30pm. I got room for a good amount of people, and it isn’t cramped or anything so I’m fine with bringing friends if you want. Bring your own stick, beer, what have you.

I hear there is something going on every Friday up in Portland, it would be nice for the Salem crew to get together for some live practice against each other before Friday’s casuals. I’d like it to become a regular thing. Maybe even add Tuesday’s to the mix. I’m sorry if I haven’t responded to some of you, job called me away to Tigerd. (Sorry Ronnicle~ my job sux.)

Give me a shout if you plan on coming, if you don’t got my digits send me a PM. I currently have one setup, two if I can kick my roommate in the teeth to lend me his (won’t be hard). So far, everyone I’ve met in Salem has been ultra chill. If it gets sizable enough, perhaps we can find a way to get another tv in there, but for now it’s what we got.

No worries Inverse, haha.

I have school tuesdays and thursdays from 1 pm to 7:30 pm so its a no go for me.

Its all good though, I dont think you guys could handle my W.U.U. Tang clan tactics anyways.
