Option Selects for use against ryu after Safejump

Soooo was just in the lab testing out some stuff, was practicing illitirit’s safejump against ryu’s dp (f.throw, whiff far HP, nj.mk) then thought what OS would work to counter a DP heavy ryu.

Results so far (left move being the OS input):

  • LP dp loses to dp
  • MP/HP/EX dp beats dp
  • super loses to dp (fireball goes through dp because of height and invinc and dp hits meaty)
  • U2 beats LP/MP dp but loses to HP/EX dp (not convinced that i’ve got the timing perfect on this one) also loses to backdash.
  • U1 beats LP dp but loses to MP/HP/EX dp (also not convinced that i’ve got the timing perfect on this one, something seems off or im missing something about how ultras work startup wise cause i keep gettting hit out of it after i land, startup issues?), also beats backdash.
  • HK tatsu whiffs on backdash due to being spaced and vs dps gets beaten so isn’t really useful.
  • Sweep os can be hit or miss depending on what the opponent does on wakeup and how fast you do the os, if sweep os is done fast then you catch backdashes but get counterhit if he dps, slow os you miss backdash but block dp.

Through alot of testing i tried to get an OS for EX DP fadc to confirm into ultra and found that it is doable! 3 bars required obviously, EX dp beats enemies dp on wakeup and fadc out to ultra, if the opponent blocks the safejump then all that comes out is a towards dash (from the fadc os input) so you can apply risky pressure or just block. The two downsides being you can’t do it if you have full bar because super comes out and if the opponent backdashes you guna be fugged up. That and the setups are fucking hard to time to even get a safejump in the first place. :frowning:

how about nj medium kick option select back dash… njmk should be able to stuff every thing, ultra activation will kill the back dash and you’ll get full punish of your choice on all dps… as an added bonus, its safe versus wake up back dash which blows up a bunch of the option selects you posted… I i’m not sure if the screen freeze on super is frame 1 or 3~5, but if its frame one, the slowdown should null the back dash inputs and let you block like in a wake up ultra scenario…
