I’ve read about option selecting and multi tapping on the wiki faqs but I’m not sure I understand exactly the timing of it. Does anyone know if there is a video that shows how it’s actually done so i can see what the timing looks like? I think some people refer to it as the piano method…but I’m a little lost as to how this should look when i’m doing it.
For example when I’m option selecting a throw reversal with strong and fierce am I literally hitting both of those buttons at the same time or does there have to be a split second time difference in between?
does that go for option selecting also? so i shouldn’t be hitting strong and fierce at the same time when going for a throw reversal…it should be slightly difference timing?
also, is this any different than me rapid tapping “strong” instead of pianoing strong and fierce? If I rapid tap strong 3 times very quickly will that almost be the same as pianoing 3 other buttons that would result in a throw reversal if they cover the same time frame?
Well, the reason for Pianoing three different buttons for Special Moves on Reversals is that you can get 6 inputs in a row reeeeeeally fast that way since letting go of buttons also activates Special Moves.
But for Throw Reversals, letting go of buttons doesn’t help. The reason “pianoing” Throw Reversals helps is because you are coming out of a state where you can’t attack in most cases you are trying to use it (after Block Stuns, falling down from Holds, getting up, etc.). And while pressing the same button three times in a row gets you three chances to Throw, it’s just not as fast. If your timing for the Throw Reversal is good, pressing Strong then Fierce (not at the same time, but with the most minimal amount of space between them possible) gives you two inputs in rapid super succession at around the time you want to Throw. The window for a Reversal Throw is so small that pressing the same button three times just isn’t fast enough to get as many meaningful inputs into the small window you have.
