Hi guys.
I like making new stuff, avs and such.
But since there is limitations here on srk, i’d like to know how to optimize my animations, cause they’re always way too big.
Check this av i tried to make :

168k
Made this one (which i think even looks better):

But it’s still way too big…131k
So if anyone has ideas to help me…
This could also serve as a base for an optimization thread, that could help new av makers…(like me ^^)
Right off the bat, I know that the frames of Ken that start of as half an avatar then go to full are eating up a lot of memory. Just adding a white background and border would take away some of the size:
Border + background:

File size: 90.13kb
also reducing the color and playing with the lossy can help too:
Color=128, Lossy=20:

File size: 49.07kb
That’s just a quick mock up, to get rid of that last little bit of of size (like .3kb) you could just add a slightly bigger border or take a way a little more color or add to the lossy… dood.
Yeah, but that definitely kills the effect x)
Though i might just use the usual board color instead of white…
Going to try, i also already tried to reduce colors, but it wasn’t enough either.
Stay tuned, i’ll be back soon ^^ gonna try some other things.
(Thanks for the tips anyway)
edit: i’m almost there:

55k
Yay! here we go:

Might have to change some values though, because there’s a bit less images which makes the animation faster…
What are you using for the color reduction ? Yours seem better than mine =/
(edit again=>) in fact i think i might have reduced to 63 colors…
Trying to cut down the filesize while staying in 128 ^^
