Operating System

Been using Windows 10 for a solid 3-4 months it seems. So far i’d say it’s been pretty good. My Pc is not even high-end, and it runs fast. So it’s not a bloated O.S i don’t think. Also works great with classic shell for that sweet Windows XP feel.

So far, so good. Zero plans to change.

Just remembered about the homage Microsoft pays to Nintendo:

I’m confused by that. Maybe they were worried about the filename collision with bRowser? :wtf:

The SMB in SMBv1 stands for Super Mario Bros. and we all know Bowser…

Small little easteregg maybe…

Does anyone feel like Windows vs. iOS is no longer a thing? It feels like the fight is now becoming Linux vs. Windows… at least, that’s what I’ve been seeing more lately. Exhibit A: https://www.1and1.com/digitalguide/server/know-how/linux-vs-windows-the-big-server-check/

The next big Vegas fight maybe? I don’t know what the ‘best’ OS is, too hard to say. I have only a tiny bit of knowledge of Linux, but I’m a sucker for a brand name, so I’m pretty steadfast with Windows.

Windows vs iOS was never an thing.
iPads and the iPhone can’t really compete with an actual desktop or laptop.

soz. macOS i meant.

Sad thing is, and this is so like 5 or 6 years ago

Windows runs better on Mac Hardware than Mac OS

Linux Mint is the most user friendly out of all of the Debian-based OS. It uses less Computing resources too, making it ideal on low end PCs. With Ubuntu, I like to download Kali tools on it to make it a good pen testing OS with the ease of use that comes with it.

I still have yet to try it on Mint.

I dunno, elementary kinda takes the top spot of user friendly debian based. It’s almost too simple at times?

But it has some good features on top of a pretty stable base that I’ve found to be a good starting point.

Saw this thread was bumped and I skipped to the end. Did anybody ever fuck with steam’s Linux fork or whatever it was?

Nope never touched it.

There was really no point because AAA devs still didn’t support it on the whole, which forced you to have a Windows setup anyway.

There more and more ways around that

I’ve been farting around with Mint Linux lately. Thanks to Windows 10 dragging the carriage behind the horse in terms of mandatory system updates, and Apple turning their OS into a big boy phone OS. I just resent that I cannot update software on my Mac without needing to update the entire damned OS.

Really?!

I get that these companies want to cover their asses, but this is a bridge too far for me and I’m looking for a more traditional OS for farting around.
