Opening ports for SFIV

I’ve got a friend who’s having issues with his internet connexion and SFIV on PS3.
Apparently, he has better connexion with other games (CoD4 for example), and we heard something about opening certain ports to improve the conexion quality with SFIV (less lag, plus be able to play with certain people that otherwise would keep giving you error message).

Is this true? And if so, which are those ports?

i just put my ps3s ip in a DMZ

check common ports list and look for playstation network or xbox live.

setting your ps3 and routers UPNP setting also helps.
