Opening Moves

It occured to me that no one needs to go thru the long lengthy process of learning what does and doesn’t work at different stages of the the game when there are those of us who can dramatically cut down the learning curve of Marvel. With that in mind what do you do in the opening? What moves beat other moves? Do you take a chance on your move beating another move? Will Magneto hit me and send me into a never ending series of resets and guard breaks?

So here is where you can ask questions about opening matchup moves whether they be defensive or offensive. i.e.

when i play MSP vs MSP online… what is the safest way to start?

IMO the safest way and the way that doesn’t get me destroyed is to start with blocking db and calling Psy. that way if then SJ then i can stand up and block and my Psy will hit them or at least be a barrier inbetween me and Magneto’s foot. There are better albeit riskier options as in nj lk+Storm, lk, FP, RH…
the classic c.lk+ Psy, c.lk
the anti jump jab + Psy, lk
sj add lk land, lk+Psy, lk
nj add lk land, lk+Psy, lk

So if you have a matchup problem on startup or just want to know what to do when the match begins with any character vs any other character post away.

When playing on DC everyone should know about the switch glitch. If you hold down an assist during the match loading screen… then that character will start first. From there you can hold down any attack button and that will come out as fast as possible allowing for 1 frame moves to always come out and beat anything else nearly. The assist buttons will not work glitched unfortunately.

IS timed hit faster than switch-glitch buffered hit?? Never been sure on this.

Its definitely faster…

I’ve been in several MSP vs MSP battles and i held down the c.lk and got hit by a well timed c.lk from my opponent. I’m sure you know your options tho to counter That option tho right?

yes. I used to be able to hit it constitently on arcade. since playing on console…it’s usually best to just switch glitch.
