Only facebook users allowed to comment on front page now? Not cool, guys

yeah the facebook requirement for posting comments is super awkward. how about you give people the option of using facebook, OR their SRK accounts?

Because the system to use your message board account on the front page is currently mucho fucked up.

I think the idea is that the majority have facebooks and a lot of internet things are implementing facebook in some way.

So you don’t have a facebook, that’s your fault.

And yes, most trolls aren’t going to bother, except the truly dedicated ones.

-women should not be underestimated-

Honestly if it was 100% to get rid of trolling, well I can’t really be against it but there’s such a disconnection between the front page and forums now.

Perhaps there was never a connection to begin with.

Ah well, life goes on~

A better solution would be been for the comments to be modded, instead of being left to be a wasteland. If the current messed up state of the site doesn’t allow that, I understand, but the current solution is pretty bad.

Which twat came up with the idea anyway…

Hmmm… so according to the Greater Internet Fuckwad Theory, a Normal Person + Anonymity + Audience = Total Fuckwad.

So if you remove the anonymity, you remove the fuckwads.

shrugs I see no problems with this.

Moderating the front page comments…

Put me in coach!

It’s not like I posted on the front page anyways.

People complaining about their IRL friends seeing them post on SRK; just delete the sign that says you posted on SRK from your profile. Sign it with your handle here. Jesus Christ, fucking nerds don’t know nerd shit.

This. I can accept the facebook thing as a temporary solution until the system is fine and dandy but what arstal said is the wanted solution in the long run.

Newsflash:

Nobody really gives a fuck what you have to say in the comments section anyway, changing this changes nothing. Commenting is not required for reading the articles, and if your only reason to visiting was to comment, that’s what the forums are for anyway

I’m over it, but you raise a good point: it’s not like I give any more of a fuck about your opinions than you do about mine. It was just that even if it was a shit-hole, it was a shit-hole I liked and it wasn’t as if I never had a half decent conversation there with people free to be dicks to one another.

Maybe I’m just a Luddite. Maybe someday in the not so distant future all of SRK will be a Facebook page where, say, David Q. Wilson, Consultant for Microsoft, and James McGee, of His Mother’s Basement, will get together and reminisce about how they used to be known as CaptainCrotch and ViperLover87 and were such eloquent assholes to each other. Then they’ll launch in their browsers a match of Street Fighter 5, written in Flash (it gets better all the time!) by a company we’ll all jokingly start calling PopCapcom. Except David Wilson will never admit to being an asshole called CaptainCrotch because his religious boss is one of his Facebook friends. I’m sure SRK would be cheaper to run and more stable as a Facebook page (and that’s not a knock, the guys here do an awesome job, Facebook just obviously has infinitely more money for infrastructure).

Whatever. I’m over it. Ciao.

I didn’t even read the front page comments to begin with. No loss here.

sigh i will miss the front page troll comments.

Hell I don’t even have a facebook account in the first place, I just don’t think we’re losing much : )

Lol I can totally see this happening.

does the option to not allow it to show up on facebook actualy work ?

The comments on the frontpage are (at least so far) pretty optimistic. I hope that lasts.

Gonna be weird not seeing trolls like WINBACK and TrollThisSRK on the frontpage, though. They were like the internet equivelent of court jesters.

Yeah. I have no SRK comments on my wall.
