OK so I’ve already had people leaving me IM’s about wanting another online tournament so I’m going to run another one.
Game: Street Fighter IV
Date: Tuesday January 19th
Time: 8:30pm EST Registration. 9:00pm EST Start.
Format: 2/3 Rounds, 2/3 Falls, Double Elimination. 3/5 Winners/Losers/Grand Finals.
NOTES: All matches are co-ordinated through MIRC. The main lobby will be #gtasf on Efnet. The tournament lobbies will be #gtasfPSN and #gtasfLIVE respectively. You can access MIRC from the web by going to http://www.mibbit.com/chat From the drop down menu put in “EFNET.” Put your username (no longer than 9 characters) and the channel (remember to put the # before the name) you want to enter.
As long as you’re idling in the channel, you will be considered registered for that tournament. DO NOT JOIN BOTH TOURNAMENT CHANNELS! People are not eligable to enter both tournaments and we do not want to cause confusion for the directors.
If you have any further questions please post them up. If you know you’re going to enter the tournaments but you do not have your gamertag listed on SRK, please take a few seconds to do so. That way I can cross reference MIRC names with the PSN/LIVE tags for easier registration.
Hope to see a lot of faces next Tuesday,
Nagata Lock II
Just to clarify because we ran into this situation yesterday. I regret to inform people that this is only open to Canadians (with a couple of exceptions, you know who you are). Yesterday we had a player who was interested in playing but he was based out of Japan. I honestly felt horrible about telling him he was unable to join because of likely lag issues. To that player please accept my apologies. In any case, for future reference the tournament are closed to anyone outside of Canada.
Vince; I’ll be running the Live tournament next week. I’d really appreciate if you ran the PSN tournament. I don’t know if Anant would want to do it a second week in a row.
I’m sure it’s cause you don’t want a Japanese monster coming in the tournament to rape everyone up. Lag had nothing to do with it as Japanese have gdlk connections.
If these online tournies are going to be regular thing, then I think everyone is going to want to get the most they can out of their connection. There are certain ports that you can open to improve connectivity. How much it improves will be different for everyone. If you are on Xbox360, you are going to want to open port 3074. For PSN the ports are (5223,3478,3479,3658).
If you are not sure on how to open ports on your router you can go to http://portforward.com/. You just pick out your router make and model, and select the game you want, in this case sf4.
