Online Edition Patch Thread

wow, did not know that! Thanks for the knowledge drop!

I wonder if some asshole shark has registered a patent “doing complex motions in order to activate a special move in FG”.

*You’re not the only one. I think the majority of us here would absolutely LOVE the option of picking “Q’s stage”. *

Virtua Fighter and Melty Blood both have a rather novel way of displaying inputs in training mode. They could try to copy that if it would work.

Fuck Namco business practices. I do like Namco games though…
That mini-games during loading screens though is pretty unnecessarily aggressive. Considering that the DBZ franchise of games had the best mini-games during loading screens anyway.
I mean, Skullgirls apparently has a training mode that trumps a lot of Namco’s things so… Yeah… The patents thing kinda because less of an excuse and more of a scapegoat unless SG purchased some rights that I didn’t hear about.
Man, I hate the US Copyright system. Or, I at least hate companies who are extremely aggressive with their patenting… Apple… Google… Coke.

so…after almost a year,it still won’t look or sound like third strike

pardon my naiveness but why are people so excited / happy about this new “patch” ?

Potentially fixes some of the online issues and at least the meters will be correct size.

So it’s better than nothing.

Because not all of us ever had access to it nor were inclined to play it during it’s heyday. I’ve never been within 300 miles of a cab til recently so emulators, SF Anniversary collection and 3SO are all I got until I can drop 600+ for a board of my own… There better be some left when that time comes dammit…

I don’t have a big problem with the hud, some of the new character portraits I don’t like… Well I don’t think I like a single one, and the one for Gill looks like it belongs at some Yaoi forum. But it’s still 3S and if they can fix the EX input drop I at least have a good home port to play with people.

If they can get the online fixed it could really help people who lack a local scene and could actually learn how to play the game the way it was meant to be played.

you wont buy it because the game doesn’t have input display? Ive heard some pretty lame reasons not to buy games, but this is by far the worst.

i found a post about the panel: General 3S/3S OE Thread. NO DISCUSSING REBALANCE, unless you like INFRACTIONS!

nice find, had no idea…

3soe is a piece of shit.

So out of the list of fixes coming, one glaring omission is the lobby glitches. Getting glitched out of lobbies during a match, while in a lobby, or being put into a completely different lobby are some common issues that have been plaguing this game since day one, at least on the PS3.

What’s more annoying is that the game somehow developed another bug that prevents players from joining some lobbies at all, as one would receive messages like “Join failed. Session does not exist”. Upon further experimentation, this happens when the game has some (connection?) problem with another player in the lobby.

I don’t play fg’s online. I still live close to arcades. I only wanted 3sOE as a training tool and without ANY improvements in training mode (I was hoping for at least input display so I could learn TKD) from PS2, there continues to be no reason for me to buy this game. Give me a reason to buy it and I will, but I’m not rebuying the PS2 version with crappy online play when I live 40 minutes away from FFA.

if anybody cares, the stun bars are also shorter than the arcade, although not by much. i had forgotten about that.

i feel like it would be impossible to reproduce those. sometimes, it’s not even just one person that gets booted elsewhere. the lobby can get divided and half the players end up in their own new lobby with the same settings, and the other half remain in the original one. when i get that join failed error, most of the time it’s because the lobby was terminated after i selected it. refreshing afterward usually shows it missing from the list, but not always.

Anyone play 3S @ Nickel City in Chicago?

Checking out the list…

A few things are good. Some are kinda pointless imo. I have a really hard time believing that many of you use training mode enough that you need stun to be disabled. Especially when already have the save state feature. Also, I agree about multi-match modes retaining your super is cool, but no one even uses the multimatch modes anymore.

I am having a really hard time reproducing the dropped ex. Seems to just be very random, and I might just be accidently karaing something. I personally havent played enough 3soe offline to see if its a problem. Online is a different story and will drops inputs on a lot of stuff, but thats not the ports fault. I assumed Its the way ggpo is used.

Game speed does not feel like the arcade, but I dont really know how to test this. 3soe is pretty close, and Im pretty worried that if they mess with the speed it might end up being worse. I would leave it as is.

The most important things to me:

Changing the sound fx to the originals. Get the trashcans outta here and give me the arcade sounds. It might not be a big deal to a lot of you guys who only play 3soe, but the sounds really irk me. A few other goofy sounds in 3soe include Uriens fireball and chuns kikkoken.

I cant stand the way 3soe looks… 3soe needs to have the original super meteres/lifebars/character portraits. I might be in the minority on this…I dont know. Sadly, it doesnt look like this is possible for them to change.

Parry training save state not working. Im glad they addressed this. This needs to be fixed.

Input display. Does skullgirls really have input display? Theres got to be a way around that patent…

Online being improved is good news.

I really feel like once they program all these changes that someone needs to test everything 1000% to make sure everything is working and there are NO BUGS. There are far too many wacky bugs in this game. I contacted Dave and let him know that I’m willing to help in anyway possible. I encourage you guys to let him know that you want someone to test everything before any patch comes out. Feel free to throw my name in there. Maybe if enough people let him know then we can be assured the patch will release without any more bugs!!

stunning the dummy has bothered me for years. the dummy doesn’t quickrise, block, or retain the position you set for it (crouch, jump, etc.), and it’ll fall when you want it to be reset. you have to undizzy the dummy and wait for the health to regenerate. save state is cool and i do use it for other things, but here it interrupts me because my stick is a custom and i put the select button on the side lol. i’d also like if they could fix the empty-health glitches where the dummy stops quickrising or blocking hits that do chip because the game thinks it’s dead, but since PS2 had this too, messing with it might result in more problems.

when i read that statement about namco, it sounds more like they’re talking about the instructional input display rather than just displaying what the player chooses to do. if you’ve done 10-strings in tekken and whatnot, the buttons are shown in sequence and make a noise when you correctly enter everything. i really don’t know though. when even indie and broke companies like snk have input display, it leaves me scratching my head.

wheres nikel city? I live in Chicago.

Well its probably not a big deal to get training mode stuff if your making a new game, but the budget of this patch is going to be very small. That’s why they’ve done so much research, to make sure they spend the budget on the most important stuff. If they blow all the budget getting some training mode stuff that’s probably not a good idea.
