It was purely a simple guess to try and find an answer.
Is LK slash immune to throws? Similar to Rose hop kick?
Kind of a basic question, I don’t exactly play Oni much at all. If I go for an LK slash and I sense my opponent might mash, what’s my best option? Will a backdash escape an SRK? I know I can just LK slash, block, and then punish, but that might leave me open to a throw if I just sit there and fail to tech on time. Tips? Thanks.
I don’t think the slashes are throw immune. Light ground pound is throw immune though.
You’re at -2 on block with light slash, so if you think they’re going to mash a DP your backdash will end up being timed almost perfectly. It mainly depends on how horizontal their DP is. Ken’s heavy DP will probably catch you, but I doubt Sagat’s will, for instance.
Thanks bro!
You are correct. I ask because Sanford does it on wake-up. But he does it more of a weird frame trap.
After slash, I almost always throw. assuming a good player, they will tech or take the throw. Once they adapt (long set) you can start mixing it up with lk slam or Srk.
But sometimes it’s just worthwhile to backdash. It’s a very similar situation after ken and ryu tatsus.
Forgot to add, since your -2 you’re most likely going to tech their throw, assuming they try to. Since yours starts negative, if you get the throw it’s because they didn’t try.
If an opponent goes for a 3 or 4 frame normal after lk Slash, they will hit you out of lk stomp while also hitting you for trying to throw.
What are some good blockstrings for Oni?
Hi guys, first post.
I just got the game and I’m considering playing Oni, but I actually wonder how hard to play the guy is.
I have played other (mostly the other kind, GG/BB) fighting game before, so I’m used to inputs, canceling into stuff, but not so much to tight links and the likes.
Any thoughts on how hard will the road ahead be ?
