It seems Dinoboy X-Drake mightāve betrayed Basil Hawkins and released Law, but whatās crazy is that Law seemed to be able to defeat Hawkins fairly easily judging by the panel. Itās a shame this is another off-screen fight but I understand Oda is probably feeling the Chapter 1000 crunch time looming.

Onigashima island itself acting shocked at the announcement of Big Mom x Kaido teamup was hilarious.

Luffy visibly training hardcore for once is great, makes it so when he actually touches Kaido more believable, although I still think he has no chance of winning at this stage.

The hot and cold relationship between Kaido and Big Mom further reinforces my Weevil lovechild theory in my mind.

Zoro will probably get a shocking revelation once he sees Ryuumaās grave.

And due to obvious Zoroās connection to Wano the legendary sword Enma owned by Oden might actually replace the Kitetsu rather than be switched with Shusui since Zoro seems to have a strong connection with it.
ā¦And last but not least i canāt wait to see the Gorosei and World Government shitting themselves when itās confirmed that 2 Yonko have allied. Remember how much resources the Marines used just to prevent Whitebeard and Shanks from meeting? They know that the hold they have on the seas is fragile and that any alliance between Yonko trumps their forces easily. They could barely stand up to an ailing Whitebeard and Akainu had to resort to subterfuge just to weaken him.

I like the way Oda sped up the last few days to just a handful of panels each. You can tell he was getting frustrated with the pacing too.

Why does this arc feel so dullā¦
Because it is stretching and features most of the Strawhat pirates in limited roles as Oda goes about world building Wano and the coming conflict.
That and it jumps around a lot. I mean Act 2 just ended but we are basically in the same position as the start, there is more fodder and guys with the group, plus fellow that released Law but they are out numbered still, Big Mom is teaming up with Kaido and the snitch is still leaking their plans.
It doesnāt feel dull for me, itās just the eye before the store. Luffy learning Ryuo, Zoro getting a baller upgrade with Enma, the reveal of the āNumbersā, and Kaido x Big Mom alliance is design for a climactic 3rd Act.
1st Act was all about creating the setting and familiarizing us with the players/
2nd Act is about setting up the resolution.
3rd Act will be the resolution.
What I did wonder about this chapter is why do certain grades of swords seem to have weird properties, with Enma being the most extreme case so far? Does a swordsmith infuse some of his will or āhakiā into the forged blade or is it like when creating a Vivre card where a smith gives some piece of himself into the blade?
So far Sandai Kitetsu is cursed and threatens the use with a horrible fate, Sushui is permanently black and unwieldy, and Enma siphons haki from its wielder like a parasite.

Sick seeing Zoro get so many power ups just by simply understanding the nature of his Katanas. Wano is indeed a really nice place for him. Iām honestly surprised he doesnāt have any lineage there. Then again we donāt know about his father and mother.
I wonder how Zoro was able to absorb his Haki back. Are there people than can siphon Haki out of other people too?
I still kinda donāt get how Luffyās power up haki works. @white_shadow

I kind of like Zoro better as just some self made dude. Itās stale if literally everyone worth a damn has some secret heritage of power to come into.

Ryuo Luffy extends his armament Haki aura into and person or object, essentially damaging it from the inside. Think of it like a Reject Dial or Rokuougan but with Haki instead.
Conveniently Zoroās new sword does the same thing, puts him into a state of Ryuo but without his permission.

So I guess weāre seeing the birth of admiral level monsters when it comes to Luffy and Zoroā¦ poor Sanji wonāt be able to keep up anymore lol.
I wonder if Shiryu can do the same with his Haki. Or perhaps BBās crew isnāt at that stage yet. Then again he did take hits form White Beard AND Sengoku.

Act 1 was setting up the players - what - King and Queen? Who else? The supernovas? They hardly did anything. Kaido himself? Wanders around getting drunk. What else does he do?
Act 2 - Feels to me like Wano is doing just fine. Yeah theres a few poor villages here and there with one village cursed by the smile fruit. People appear to be generally unhappy cos of Orochi over Oden. But this is nothing like the setup we had in Dressrosa where things seriously needed fixing. Seems the only problem in Wano is the gag order to not talk about the previous rulers. Thats not so badā¦
Zoro getting a power upā¦ we havenāt even seen what he can do when pushed to the limits pre-power up. So far heās just been chilling.
So yeah, it just feels like nothing is actually happening in Wano. Enemies are just playing police and the strawhats are popping up in random places doing next to nothing.
As for Kaido having 40000 soldiers - I thought you donāt get fodder in the new World. Where did he get that many?
Give it time I guess. Surely Oda knows what heās doing.
