I created a character in my story who is an assassin, and also a blue ring octopus, except he envenomates his victims slashing with metal claws drenched in saliva.
Then also the hybridization where Mermaids and Fishmen can create either/or, something like that is similar in my story.

Honestly, I am thinking it won’t be the Marines but another party that leads to the vision Mako Shark mermaid had. Could be the Fishman pirates or Big Mam, but I was thinking Luffy would straighten out Fishman island mess that came from Whitebeard’s death and maybe taking over as the big name. Given the vision, I can see that still being the case or the manga taking a sudden shift where Luffy makes a situation worst then when he arrived.
Since I’m fairly certain that Big Mam is the mother of Lola, I don’t think she’ll be bad but she probably isn’t going to be a sweetheart either. You don’t become the only female Yonkou by being a princess.
It’s still wat too early for Luffy to see such a high level pirate imo.
As for the vision, it’s hard to imagine what scenario Oda will concoct…

my guess is that they’ll be forcing luffy out and realize that its actually vander decken who would destroy the island once luffy is on his way out and last minute epic luffy comes back beats vander decken and saves the island while its on the verge of destruction
You know, that is a pretty solid theory/prediction. I won’t be surprised at all if that was the case.
Fishman Island gets more and more interesting. Then again, I rather like worldbuilding and Oda is extremely good at it.
That said, I am kinda confused about the locomotion system. I’m guessing they’re flying fish like Duval’s mounts or something? Because not all of Fishman Island is covered in water.

The Blue Ring Octopus sounds pretty cool. I vaguely remember hearing about it before.
I seriously didn’t notice that the Blue RingOctopus guy blocked last chapter. I thought he got owned like the other two, though looking at again, on the next page, he says “Zah!”, which means that he was at least conscious after Luffy punched the shit out of him. Impressive.
Damn, that sucks. Still, you could go with it. It’s not like anything really original and (seeming) homages to One Piece would probably be well-received if they were executed well.

That’s some serious speed/reflexes right there.

Yes, the swordsman fishman is impressive, I wonder if he used COA to block the punch as well, because even though he blocked the attack I saw blood splatter.
At least when Zoro fights him he can just do some “blood letting” and drain the poison out of his body. 800 pints.
