Is it me or is this latest episode the third or fourth time this arc, that they have flashed back to Coby telling Luffy post Ennis Lobby of wanting to be an admiral?

That being said, my Lord Whitebeard’s wound looks nasty in color and animated. That alone would make me call that fool monster, never mind immediately after getting gang shanked by Marines launching a whole mess of them into the sky when they were standing 40 feet away. Nice scene that one bit with the camera following one Marine that just got swept up in it.

Nah, you’re probably right. It’s pretty annoying. They’re dragging this arc pretty hard, IMO.

well the more they drag this arc the less of a chance of external filler episodes that they have (ie a new adventure between after this arc and the training arc). However there should be that new year filler coming up in a bit. The one set in it edo japan since IIRC that comes on ever year around janurary.

plus we got luffy and ace as a kid. they are catching up to the manga pretty quickly since the manga really hasnt gone too far yet.

I hate watching shows week by week. I watched 40 Naruto episodes this week; 30 more to go til i wait 2 years for that lol.

IMO, the impact of the events become less significant if read/watched all at once. There were a lot of hidden clues about things that I missed in the Alabasta and Skypeia Arcs simply because I wanted to catch up, and when I reread them it opened up some insight on certain things, like Pluton and Haki before it became “official”.

607 summary

[details=Spoiler]Chapter 607: 10,000M Under the Sea
Cover art is Franky riding a mecha-horse, racing against a mustang (wild horse)

Right as the volcano is about to erupt, van der Decken orders Ankoro and Wadatsumi to steer the ship and run
Luffy speaks to Nami, and tries to tell Surume to get further away, but Surume is already darting the hell out of there lol

The volcano erupts right after this
Magma is flowing through, and due to the temperature difference the currents are starting to become swirls,
but the Strawhats got away just in nick of time into a trench, and head further into the depth
As the Sunny jumps into the trench, rocks come raining on them

Zoro tells Luffy to hang on tight, he’ll cut them, but Robin stops him.
This is a layer where the water pressure would crush them
Usopp uses his Green Star Sargasso to stop them, but some of the rocks got through and hit Surume who wasn’t paying attention, and knocked him out

They fall further into the depth…
They finally reach 10,000m under the sea (the bottom of the trench)
They arrive at Fishman Island, surrounded by a massive bubble.

Sanji nosebleeds again lol
Surume was already tamed and used by the Fishmen, and even larger sea monsters surround him
New Fishman Pirate crew (a fighter, not captain) Hammond shows up. A pike eel (hamo in Japanese) fishman.
He tells Luffy we don’t knwo if you’re a foe or friend, but join us or else sink to the bottom of the sea.
The Strawhats decide to Coup de Burst out of the situation
"Alright, maximum Coup de Burst ready!"
Hammond: Alright, now decide to become our underling!! Strawhat Luffy!!
Luffy: Heeell no!! Morons!

This week end here.
The reason why they don’t know if he’s enemy or foe is because strickly in case of how they dealt Arlong, they consider him enemy.
But then they also consider him possibly friendly, because he helped Hachi and knocked out a Tenryuubito, just like Fisher Tiger did.

So they are confused what to make of Luffy, I guess

While Franky steers the ship, Usopp supplies him

I wonder if that main fishman is strong or not, the Arlong tat seems to hint otherwise but you never know.

I suspect Jimbei is either dead or in a very weakened position. But thinking on it, really outside of Jimbei and post Arlong park Hatchan, most fishmen have been jerks. Maybe those two are the exceptions in the previous fishmen pirates ranks rather then the standard.

Either way, I fully expect a curb stomping once they reach the island and are outside of the restrictions of the bubble…

Well to be fair to the fishmen, they are pretty much a sub-class in the OP world and are constantly oppressed and exploited by the humans, so I can somewhat understand why they tend to be jerks towards the humans.
I’m glad I was wrong about FI being a warzone… it seems that the Fishmen have been holding things down since WB croaked, unless the WB pirates are still protecting them.

Obviously, the strawhats are going to whoop some butt at first, but eventually Fishman Island will become one of their many, many allies.

Yes, the Shabondy Archipelago and Amazon Lily arcs really enlightened the reason why fishmen such as Arlong have a strong hatred for humans. Of course that doesn’t absolve Arlong and his crew for the terrible deeds they’ve done (especially killing Nami’s foster mother), but at least we have a glimpse of where their hatred is coming from.

It’s finally good to see the Strawhats reach Fishman Island, it’s been a long time coming. Hammond (the fishman talking to the Strawhats) appears to have an Arlong tattoo (on his neck) and a Fishman pirate sun tattoo crossed out (I’m guessing that it’s to distinguish himself from the Fishman pirates who have the original mark of the Sun). It’s definitely going to be interesting to see what type of dispute is going on in Fishman Island.

Damn, this arc has already been hilarious and exciting, and with the plot already thickening, it’s just going to get better from here.

would like to see “civil war” in one piece. Fishmen (humanoids looking like fish) vs Mermen (people with fish asses).

Would be itneresting to see imo, luffy could make peace between peeps.
