Am I the only one who liked skypeia arc?
I liked Skypeia at lot. The whole arc felt like a real adventure. Enel was so broken to me when he was first introduced. Plus the historical aspect of the arc really did a good job of world building. We now know that the Shandians/Skypeians are essentially the moon people and have a connection with the Void Century.
PS: God Usopp did you-know-what in the anime this week.
It was pretty good, if unevenly drawn and a bit more drawn out than I would’ve liked. I still like the manga version of it better.

I sorta don’t get it. So even after all the abuse, using up his haki, taking a beating from Doffy, being stabbed by threads, he was still able to deliver a (presumably) knockout blow.
I mean, Doffy has survived a lot of shit and didn’t even look tired. Hell, he turned the whole town into string and seemed poised to still rain pain on the dude. But one punch took him out? I keep thinking, okay, so let’s give him the benefit of doubt and say Luffy’s blow carried the weight of the meteor that killed off the dinosaurs, fine. Well, Doffy is mobile in the air. So why didn’t he just move?
I dunno. Out of all the victories Luffy has had over the years, this one seems the most implausible simply because instead of using smarts or a gimmick to win, he used brute force. Something he shouldn’t have been able to do after all the shit he’d just gone through. Whatever.

I think Luffy sold this fight a little more than you think. Mingo has been getting the crap kicked out of him for a while now and has been getting pissed and his plans constantly ruined for even longer. But each time something happens he bounces back with a smile which makes the damage done seem a bit more trivial. Between law’s final attack and his gear 4 beat down I don’t doubt he was one strong attack away from losing glasses-kun.
The most insane part of this chapter for me wasn’t the King Kong Gun but rather Luffy doing the unprecedented- breaking through Doflamingo’s Parasaito strings! A feat other monstrously strong characters couldn’t accomplish. Also, the henshin into Gear 4th with practically no prep time was also a surprise.
Doflamingo’s Spider’s Web was capable of withstanding pretty much everything; so it was logical that in this scenario it provided what was seemingly the perfect defense to unleash his ultimate thread attacks, so it wasn’t like Doflamingo was blinding rushing headlong into Luffy’s attack. It’s clear that he felt that he knew all of Luffy’s shenanigans as he analyzed Gear 4th prior. Also, in their exchange he was also trying his darnedest to bluff Luffy, both clearly had sustained an inhuman amount of damage. It was also cool that Doflamingo was able to imbue his awakened white threads with armament haki as well.
Flashback Rayleigh most likely was telling Luffy that there are times where it’s smart to expend all of one’s haki a single powerful strike, which means Luffy is probably going to be completely out of it next chapter. Although Donquixote Doflamingo is definitely DONE, I don’t think he’ll stay that way for the entire aftermath. We do need to see his eyes after all.
Even if Doflamingo can’t move, those awakened threads can hehehehe…
I noticed there is some possible foreshadowing here vs Don Chinjao:
Heavenly Yaksha (Demon) being sent down to Terra Firma.

this is the thing that bothers me of One Piece and might make me stop reading it (don’t get me wrong I still think it is a great manga). I can understand wanting to leave some mystery and wanting to flesh out certain things to give the world a sense of realism or good story telling.
At some point, it just feels like piling on or dragging on. (give 2 answers to 2 previously unanswered questions but in the process give 9 more unanswered questions). Or Oda just wanting to do too much.
It just feels more like a drug or addiction and Oda knows people are thirsty. He can milk this for another 10 years easy the way it’s going and in his position I would do the same. This “journey” no longer feels as fun or like a journey anymore. Feels more like, ok I got the answer to question 22, now 96 more questions left to go. Wait, Oda just added 6 new questions. Hmm 102 questions left to go.
Just felt like writing down my input to let the frustration out. I’m not trying to encourage or discourage anyone from One Piece, it was more just to let it out.
Sometimes, it’s good to think about a story on a deeper level… Other times, niggas just need to relax and enjoy the ride.
