What happens if your body gives out before your story does? Think of all the people who will be left heartbroken and without closureā¦ Pissing off a few fair-weather fans now only to come back in great health and able to finish your run is a far better bet.

been re-reading the manga and in vol.3 Oda says he wants to take a year off to improve his drawing skills so he can enjoy drawing more.

Huh, part of me hates the idea but since it is Oda, I think he could use the break, donāt know what the SJ editors will do without their primary money maker for a year, especially with the other two big mangas wrapping up soon but it could be worth it.
I almost wish One Piece was a monthly manga, if it meant that Oda could have a better schedule. He works insane hours. OP is amazing and Iām sure Oda loves what he does, but I donāt know if itās worth killing yourself over it.
Oda is going to have serious health issues if he keeps this up. I like one piece as much as the next guy, but this work schedule needs to be regulated. Jump should care more about the health of their mangaka, rather than their own deep pockets.

Granted Iām actually one of the few that hates to sleep, and until recently, only slept 4-5 hours a night. But with Odaās workload, 3 hours of sleep is insane!
Even more impressive is that despite his pace, the plot has been so orderly and consistent for the past 17 years. Oda must keep plot points scribbled all throughout his workspace because thatās incredible.
Keep in mind he finds time to read fan letters and answer SBS questions, then recreate fan art ideas.
I feel tired just thinking about thisā¦
