It definitely looked that way. It seems like it was their prime directive to at least make that scene epic.
As for Oda-sama, I think he needs an extended vacation. But I think because the anime rarely takes breaks, the pressure to produce must be always on. Thing is, Iād rather him have long term success than consistently burning out every few months. Iām seriously worried about the long term effects his work pace doing to his body.
Considering that he also has a plans for another manga after One Piece, I donāt want him having to resort to āHealing Hormonesā and shorten his lifespan by decades.

I just hope the flashback weāre about to get doesnāt last several chapters! Oda has been relatively good about that in this arcā¦ Would be a shame to mess up the pacing by pausing the ongoing battling even more.

Doflamingos brother? Hype.
Doflamingo is a confusing fellow. He talks about family but commits fratricide on his own flesh and blood? Iām guessing something must have really pushed him, Cain and Abel style.
Pica may not be a classic swordsman, but Iām glad to see Zoro take the reins and clash blades with an opponent again.
Also Pica has shown how Logias can deal with haki users, just like Aokiji by simply changing your shape or location to avoid haki attacks.

He doesnāt seem to be a logia so much as someone who can control and shape rock. His whole body is hidden among the rock, not actually absorbed into the rock. So the body canāt change, but you do have to hit the body. Should make for a fun videogamey boss fight for Zoro. Uncover and hit the weak spot!
I think I can say this is the one flashback moment most of us wonāt mind reading.

Thoughts and prayers will go out to Oda as he goes under the knife again. Honestly he should take better care of himself although I am grateful for him producing the best manga week after week.
Flashback chapters, canāt have One Piece without them, although I guess this arc is big enough we are going to need severalā¦ seriously the anime is really catching up to the manga, I would be surprised if they throw a surprise filler arc about the crew stuck on the Sunny in there unless Oda wraps it all up in the next 15 chapters.
I dont have the picture anymore but Oda has a really shitty schedule, probably even more so than most mangakas.

Paramecia manipulation. Being a rock manipulator affords him a different kind of flexibility. Also he was concerned about the damage to his head from Grizzly Magnum.
Now you could say the head is where he houses his body, so I guess your guess is more sound overall.
