One Piece Thread: Gear 2nd!

So would one can say his “followers” would be the official set of “Usopp Pirates” and be another division of the Straw Hats?

We have to see how it shakes out at the end of the arc but so far, yep it is looking like something where Usopp and the others earn their respect and loyalty enough they party with one another and promise to meet up.

Also keep in mind that the giant guy who held Usopp aloft is from Elbaf. Between Dory, Brogy and this guy, Usopp’s going to be a freaking celebrity by the time the Strawhats get there.

Dont forget other 2 Elbaf gents whom helped him while he was Sogeking

Blackbeard would’ve definitely wrecked Luffy in Impel Down. There is a high chance Luffy would do a ton of self-inflicted damage from the instant recoil from losing his Gomu Gomu powers mid attack. Then there’s the fact that BB is actually very strong and. Luffy would feel every strike full force.

Jinbei would probably prevent Teach from dealing a death blow, but Luffy was on the losing end after the dust settled.

That’s right, and he revealed his face to them. In every instance where Elbaf giants are involved, Usopp’s the one who’s made friends with them or who had a direct hand in saving them.

The Elbafians are going to be all “Who’s this Brooke guy? HOLY DANG YOU GUYS IT’S USOPP!”

I’m glad Sabo was able to get the fruit, now we finally have a worthy holder of the devil fruit unlike that lazy Ace who relied completely on his DF power and didn’t have the superior Haki power that Sabo has demonstrated… if Ace did, he sure as hell didn’t use them or didn’t bother developing them. One could only imagine the outcome of his fight with BB if he had such powerful haki attacks like Sabo.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Ace was the biggest slacker in OP, they guy carried the Pirate King’s genes and had unlimited potential (he even had Conqueror’s haki for crying out loud), but he just pissed all away. :bluu:

Sabo lookin real powerful. I dare say that he is able to fuck around with admirals. I HOPE he fights fujitora with the pipe

I think you’re not giving BLackbeard enough credit. He’s a jovial back stabber, but not a weakling.
He could of been a whitebeard commander before he got his fruit. He just didn’t want the position.

Don’t make me body you again, voodazz.

Yeah, i know BB is an Omega level bad ass and the outcome probably would still end with him on top, but ace could have dealt a lot more damage to BB if he tagged him in the face with a Dragon’s Breath-like punch to the face once BB pulled him in or maybe even used Haki to harden his body against BB’s melee attacks, etc…

Bottom line: Ace should have spent more time in the dojo, now he’s dead like a punk.

Huh?
BB’s Yomi Yomi No mi Negates all DF powers if he comes in contact. Ace can’t do shit if BB is touching him, and BB has been shown to have God like durability considering he got pounded on by Whitebeard and was still standing strong.

If he did have some armament Haki he probably would’ve faired better, but BB is by no means a slouch and was able to stand with the top dogs pre time skip.

Don’t sleep on Negrobeard. Teach took an EARFQUAKE punch to the grill and was basically fine afterwards. Akainu took one and could barely stand back up.

I will admit that Ace was not nearly as badass as he was made out to be, given what we know about Haki and how all the big wigs are proficient with it.

Devil Fruit Users need to stop skipping legHaki day at the gym…

If you ain’t rockin haki in one piece now you ain’t shit

There’s still nothing really proving that Ace couldn’t use Haki though. Just because he didn’t use Armaments: Hardening, that doesn’t mean he couldn’t use Haki. If you notice, the black hardening technique is used mostly by close combat fighters like Luffy, and not swordsmen, unconventional fighters, or Logias like Mihawk, Sentomaru (Best Haki Defense in DA WORLD!), and Aokiji.

I hope Oda answers this in an SBS and settle it once and for all.

To me it’s like saying Mihawk can’t use Haki because he cut Buggy and Buggy didn’t die. I’m pretty certain Ace wouldn’t have been able to fight Jinbei for days on end without Haki.

Going from the fight with BB it looks like he used no Haki at all, but its possible he knew how to use it since I doubt he’d be a high up in WB’s crew if he didn’t know the basics of Haki.

I also think Mihawk just didn’t care enough to Haki imbue his attacks since during Marine ford only a handful of people could actually take him on without instantly dying and most of them were on his side.

Before someone mentions Jozu blocking his attack: The attack was either non Haki, or Jozu just had armament haki on par with Mihawks.

Mihawk was straight trolling the entire war… You could tell he was bored as fuck and didn’t want to be there. Hell, all the Shichibukai were just going through the motions outside of Kuma…

Marines probably rack up a higher pirate body count if Mihawk and God of all Trolls Kizaru were actually motivated.

Mihawk didn’t use Haki when cutting Buggy, as he didn’t need it to test Luffy. Jozu clashing with the “Strongest Slash In The World” was also just a test, and I’m sure Jozu’s haki+DF made him capable to block the slash, especially since it wasn’t meant for him. a la Zoro’s breath technique

The point I was getting at is that Ace using Haki doesn’t mean it had to be blurted out like a special move or manifest itself to be recognizable for the reader at that time. Remember, Haki wasn’t fleshed out until near the end of the first half of the series. Which is why Oda didn’t spend time having Garp explain why his “Fist of Love” hurts Luffy, or why Shanks “looking angrrry” at a low tier sea king made him go away.

When Sabo did his own Fire Fist attack he didn’t say- “Haki-Infusion: FIRE FIST!” He just did it.

But I digress:

Damn I almost forgot how good Sogeking/ Ussop is at sniping. I really want Endgame Sogeking vs Endgame Van Auger before the series ends.

Yep. Consider what Zoro can do after training with Mihawk’s monkeys. Mihawk’s MONKEYS. And unless Mihawk’s just floating on his “bes sordsmen in da world” status and Zoro surpassed him before leaving the island (which would be a simultaneously cool and disappointing twist), Mihawk was most definitely not out for blood in the war.

One of the first things Zoro does post-timeskip is to make a SWORDSLASH TORNADO THAT WRECKS EVERYTHING IT TOUCHES IN A HUGE AREA. Mihawk was, at best, doing some long-range sniping and sparring some with the rose dude while in the war.

Yeah Mihawk was pretty much there just out of obligation, which is why he bounced as soon as Shanks showed up.

lol If Zoro was somehow stronger than Mihawk then it would defeat the entire purpose of the plot, his dream, and the hierarchy of the crew. Mihawk is basically on par power~wise with the Yonkou and his title would already be forfeit. So basically, Zoro would be stronger than Luffy and nearly everyone in the OP world, which so far he clearly isn’t.

Spoiler

But that “missing” eye though… Zoro must’ve really earned it.
