One Piece Thread: Gear 2nd!

[details=Spoiler]This was an OK chapter, but it could’ve been better. Kyros being the toy soldier is not surprising to me at all and seeing Robin in her previous clothes instead of her disguise was quite awkward.

Anyway, this chapter gets a 3/5 from me. I hope the next one is better.[/details]

Okay chapter on the whole.

[details=Spoiler]
Hah, that was quick confirmation on the Kyros thing! Good timing between the manga and anime.

Odd to see Robin in her normal clothes, but it does make sense… Right now Trebol/Trevor is looking for someone with different clothes than what she’s wearing.

Also, the main gnome-dude still had his tatababasco grape when he was stuck to Trebol’s explosive snot-pillar. It should still be in play. And between Usopp’s aim and Robin’s handy skills, they should be able to do the original plan of sneaking it into her grape-basket, or Robin forcing Sugar’s mouth open while Usopp snipes.

Also, I live for these glimpses of Lao G. He da bes.[/details]

Rebecca is so mean T__T, but Robin’s ass looks too delicious.

Was honestly hoping for more Sabo action this chapter.

I think now Ussop is going to start make some real manly moves. You can’t see your midget homies get burnt and run away.

Kudos. I guess the 20 year thing was to throw us off as I always felt it was him, but didn’t think too deeply about how it could work.

Paramecia users are so versatile, so Trebol can turn his slime into any variation, like napalm. So we could easily see acidic, poisonous, “healing’” ointments, the whole works. So far, he seems much more impressive than Flagman Diamante.

Next chapter I think we’re going to see Pica doing his stuff.

Liked this chapter, I know once I read through the whole arc again I’m going to tear up lol.

Learning who Soldier-San is was a tearjerker…

…but learning Rebecca is a well-endowed 16 year old requires a cold shower.

I don’t need a cold shower per say, but I was like “16”?!?!

Shit man, even in manga’s its hard to tell these days. I’mma need them to ALL start carrying IDs.

I can’t wait to see what Sabo unleashes in that ring!

Heck yeah dude, I hope that he does some absolutely insane shit that blows everyone away.

Diamante’s devil fruit power is sorta uninteresting, hoping to see more Pica action next chapter.

I love this Arc.

Diamante’s fruit does have some interesting capabilities, but it’s just that he as a fighter isn’t impressive. He feels like an East Blue villain who relies solely on his fruit for “cool” factor. Meanwhile, Boogerman is wrecking shop.

lol Next arc you find out Diamante’s entire wardrobe is really a tactical nuke he wrapped around his body.

We haven’t really seen Diamante do much yet. As that instant-iron-club thing shows, he can pretty much make any weapon with it. Plenty of room for inventiveness. And keep in mind, the second strongest guy in the Strawhat roster is a guy who just fights with three swords.

Besides, think of Van Decken. His power wasn’t really that scary to anyone who was New World-capable… until he slapped the ass of a city-sized ship. Could see Diamante grabbing the main platform in the area and flapping it around like a carpet, or similar stuff. Gotta give Sabo a proper fight to style on.

So along my e-travels I encountered this:

May not be One Piece, but that’s certainly a two piece. Cosplay done right.

^That… That’s just not fair…

Since this discussion is going on feverishly in the DBZ thread…

Naruto vs Luffy

discuss.

No.

Naw, guys, I think apples would totally kick oranges’ collective asses.

I usually would follow with “Such and such would win because factor x is just too much in his favor”

But I got to be real, in that match-up, what makes both characters strong are pretty much overlapping, whether it be Friend No Jutsu, durability, stupidity, sheer will-power - they are in my humble opinion - pretty equal. Then you look at the next determining things - powers unique to each other’s universe, and I can’t sit back and say Naruto’s rasengan would break Luffy’s haki, the same way I can’t say that Luffy’s offense would be good enough to hurt Naruto.

It just really doesn’t feel like I could justifiably pick a winner. I’d say from a development stand point - Naruto is further along, he’s shown the capacity to be a top ten of all time ninja, while Luffy is still the Captain of - highly known, but not Warlord or higher tier - crew. So Naruto is further along, but beyond that…meh.

The winner would be us if we ever got to read that.

Hell Natsu is in that same category. Ichigo I’m not sure about. The level of brokeness he’s about to exhibit might dwarf the others…
