One Piece Thread: Gear 2nd!

I think people are underestimating Doflo’s actual physical strength. While most people at least cringe when sanji kicks them, doflo just blocks it and says hes halfway strong.

Now im not sure if he used haki was involved with it but it just shows how strong doflo and sanji are. And the strings he used to smack sanji had basic haki involved.

Luffy has his hands full with Doflo.

@Thirtyfour Luffy doesn’t need to blow his bones up for Gear Third, at least not directly. He’s also lost that pesky weakness aka “Chibi Luffy”.

The character that showed the second-most impressive display of pure strength, Diamond “I throw icebergs the size of Manhattan” Jozu, was easily controlled by Doflamingo. Breaking free of those strings ain’t going to be that easy.

I always feel weird trying to gauge both Sanji and Zoro - they both seem to be applying ‘some’ form of haki, but its form is so much unlike other forms that are obviously haki that its hard to say ‘how much’.

So on one hand we have DoFlo who obviously has some haki skills - between using Conqs earlier, and IMO armament for the strings…I’d wager that he has physical strength, haki defense, and if his model is similar to something I’ve though about for my series - those feathers and his body hair both can be hardened for defense. On the other hand we have Sanji who’s dressed in black…so all we know is his attacks look as though they are engulfed in flame…which doesn’t seem tied to any particular type of haki (again though SRK seems pretty confident he’s a light haki user and I agree)…so it’s hard to say

“How hard did Sanji actually kick DoFlo”

Hell post time skip this is the first real fight he’s had that I can think of so I can’t really say if DoFlo has hella defense or Sanji’s attack damage just didn’t scale so well. comparing that to Luffy who just ‘uncaved’ someone’s head - who Garp caved in - and we know that Luffy is a true heavy hitter.

So it will be written that Luffy has a hard time with him, and I’m sure he’s got some other shit up his sleeves, but right now - short of the air superiority - I actually see doFlo/Luffy being a pretty decent match almost in Luffy’s favor. Bt I doubt DoFlo will just slug it out so it should still be interesting.

Fixed.

So I saw some comments suggesting that Law is Sabo thanks to whatever happened 13 years ago. The theory is that the Celestial Dragon who killed Sabo is one of Doflamingo’s relatives, but it was Doflamingo himself who saved Sabo from death. I don’t really buy it, but what do you all think?

If we’re gonna go down that road, I think it’d be more probable that Law is Sabo’s brother getting revenge for his death.

Law isn’t Sabo for sure.

Dofla, get it right posers.

Once again, I am surprised at DoFlo’s empathy for his subordinates as he hesitated from Law’s threat kill that crazy Art Lady.

He’s a good ol’ embodiment of the “evil people have friends” trope. He’s got a tightly-knit troupe of really terrible people who actually do work as a team and both respect and fear their captain… But unlike with Crocodile (who was basically the boss of an organization), this is a real crew. There’s way, WAY more respect than fear. They trust him to pull them out of tight situations too.

It makes sense, though. Consider how long his main group have been together. It’s been YEARS since they took over his family’s old stomping grounds, and his main people have stuck with him all that time.

Shit just got way too real right now.

Next week needs to come. Stat.

Sorry if i got peoples hopes up for the new chapter with this message, but if anyone hasn’t seen the latest anime episode, then i recommend it.

Saw it on Saturday. Loved the way they did the ending.

New chapter’s out. Enjoy!

With this setup, Luffy is going to make some very powerful friends…

Will Rebecca be able to handle Cav? He seems to be too much of a beast for her…

Although Cav could take the Sanji way out.

Unless Cavendish falls in love with her (which is unlikely since it is pretty much established he loves himself more then anything), I don’t see him not trying and succeeding in fighting Rebecca. I can’t take her “Sword that doesn’t hurt” seriously unless she has some absurd conqueror’s haki to back it up because even if she can counter any attack, if she can’t attack she can’t win against a smarter or quicker opponent, which one would assume Cavendish might be one of these. Not to mention in the next round Luffy having to potential allies out of the 3 other winners would be weird unless Burgess is INSANELY strong…

i doubt that those people are going to just hang out there unreal…

Well Burgess CLEANED OUT Block A in like 5 minutes…it was so fast, it was off panel

I think they are going to be stuck to some extent, and Luffy will in some shape or form - get them out there.

As I see it - Luffy is going to need ‘support’ to battle someone like Kaidu - not because of his individual strength, but the vast size of his crew. On top of that, he will need an expanded crew for a large scale fight against the World Gov’t - in some shape or form, while I don’t think he will ever formally expand the crew to the necessary size - I think he’ll have friends and associates who will ‘back him’…and something like this arc is a PRIME way for him to get ‘powerful’ allies - similar to the triangle head dude.

Considering that there aren’t a ton of skeletons down there that I could tell, the toy maker person is probably coming to deal with the gladiators. Trouble is, they likely haven’t had a group of people THIS strong there before. So, we’ll see how that pans out. To put it this way, I don’t think they’ll need rescuing.

Prediction for the colosseum fight: Cavendish helps Rebecca out, then goes “Sorry gurl, one must fall” and pushes her off.

Who is this person who can wipe memories/change memories?
Maybe it’s violet and Sanji is a ticking time bomb. All of his flashbacks could be fake.
Is her fruit to do with memories? hmmm
Does the person who gets turned into a toy get forgotten about immediately, is it a side effect.

I would like to see one of the straw hats get turned into a toy, then forgotten about. Maybe luffy. Then we can have something like the dupliss battle in Paper mario the thousand year door.
