If you look at Shanks’ crew, the heacy hitters are pretty much the OGs. By Yonkou standards his crew is very light, considering other Yonkou have friggin’ armadas and stationed islands residing all over the Grand Line.
No one in the entire series has displayed the raw Haki Shanks has so far.
Mihawk’s ambition doesn’t require him to be a Yonkou, even though his strength as the “Strongest Swordsman” pretty much rests him at Yonkou level.
P.S., Do you remember Silvers Rayleigh, who even at his old age fought Kizaru to a standstill? Think about what Shanks- who’s currently in his prime can do…
Looking at the numbers Shanks’ crew seems to be similar to Teach’s crew (at least with important members)
Looking back at WB’s crew he had like maybe 5 guys that were actually worth shit. Yeah he had numbers but in OP Quality > Quantity.
Teach and Shanks both have like 9 members that seem powerful enough so yeah.
Meanwhile just by main character powers/mentor character powers Shanks should be able to annihilate an admiral. Kizaru didn’t even want to fuck with Beck (his #2) and Akainu wasn’t feeling the Shanks fight. Doesn’t even have to be Haki powers just raw fighting strength/ability should be able to overcome an admiral.
My power levels go by
Main Character (eventually) > Yonkou > Admiral > Secondary Motives Warlord Category (Mihawk and Dofla)/Super powerful captain (Kidd or Marco)/super powerful mate (Zoro or Ace)> Warlord > Supernova/Still powerful captain > Butt cheeks.
I didn’t forget that, I would just like to see Sanji step it up even more, it gets kinda tired seeing Luffy/Zoro/Luffy/Zoro
being the only ones to win and fight against important villains all the time. Sanji is the only other one in the crew with the potential to get at some big wigs, and I feel he could be of better use than he is now.
I wouldn’t read too much into Kizaru being scared of Ben Beckman… The man is a notorious troll, and the pirate world is so very lucky his lazy ass is the one with the Pika Pika no Mi instead of Absolute Justice aka I-slaughter-my-own-men-for-deserting Akainu.
The Great Age of Pirates would have ended in like five seconds…

Called it. Doflamingo is Peter Parker in disguise. His true form is a spider suit made from his own strings. It’s all coming together now
Anyone else think the ‘5 Color Strings’ are haki imbued? So Doflo is like Spiderman but he can run haki through the webbing to do damage.

I guess I was wrong about Sanji though…no chance. With that said though, unless Doflo has something crazy up his sleeves I can pretty easily see Luffy decking him.

Also since Sanji is the one who fought Doflamingo, we know most definitely he will have a plan for Luffy to use on how his attacks work, and probably how to beat him. Sanji’s always the mastermind behind things. If Law survives he’ll get to see a real tactical genius at work. It took Law 13+ years to get this far, Sanji will top him in less than 30 chapters.

Really though, all along Doflamingo’s glasses have been inspired by Spiderman’s eye lenses. Doflamingo Dox, and Joker are just his secret identities. When the glasses come off we’ll have a flashback on his childhood, how he got his powers from world noble experiments on animals(spiders) gone wrong), and above all where he got his Jolly Roger and trademark “Smile” from. On the whole Haki vs Admirals, I would like to point out while non canon, Movie Z had Zephyr who was taking on Kizaru pretty decently although the seastone Power Glove did help.
Edit: Also on the new chapter, given his abilities, I REALLY want to see Zoro go against Doflamingo instead of Luffy to see how far Zoro has come but that is probably too unlikely given the circumstances.
Now THAT’S an action scene. Good use of the various abilities there. Too bad it’s all going to happen slowly in the anime.
Also enjoyable to get a little hint of Law’s little insurance plan for the Caesar delivery. If anyone tried to stab him in the chest, it’d just be Caesar dying.
Looks like Sanji’s the Worf of One Piece for now. Y’know, the really strong guy that gets punched out by the enemy to show that they’re badass. Now, Doflo’s strong as hell, but he relies a bit on gimmicks. I figure if you’re fast enough and have good enough Observation Haki, you’ll be dodging that little string-capture move of his. That, or you simply have to be physically stronger than him to break out. Could see Luffy or Zoro going “hnnnnghFUCKYOUPUNCH/SLASHTOTHEFACE” through it.
Boo to Nami being too petrified to be useful, though. Woman, you have ranged attacks. Fry that grin off his face while he’s busy rapefaceing at Sanji.
EDIT: And just after I typed that, I noticed that both she and Brook were ready to kick ass when Sanji told them not to. Never mind!
It took 15 year but Oda finally revealed Doflamingo’s Devil Fruit power in a canon way. It’s interesting that he can change the size and shape, which means him going all out is going to be insane. Luffy thrives on mobility, so having user than can turn a battleground into a web is going to be a major hindrance. Added with Doflamingo’s powerful Haki, where even his feathery coat to deflect Sanji fiery barrage of kicks.
Trafalguy’s ingenuity with his DF ability rivals Luffy. I like this new development. We were meant to believe that Doflamingo’s downfall was just a means to an end, but now we see that he was practically the goal all a long. Considering that Law, along with Kidd and Luffy share the same dream to become Pirate King, this is an interesting detour.

Law really knows how to use his abilities. Hes probably the most creative DF user in the world right now. But that wont save him from Doflo’s rage.
Unless that’s just Law bullshitting Doflo again. Dude’s not quite up there with Light Yagami as far as “well I figured you’d think about that so I prepped for it” bits go, but he’s closeish.

He stopped Diamond Jozu for free so I doubt it has anything to do with strength. Like a spider’s web I believe if you’re caught by his strings like that you’re fucked unless there’s some outside interference. Remember the 2nd time Luffy lost to Crocodile at the Palace and shot water in the air to rehydrate himself after realizing he was fucked since he got 720’d? He would have to 1 up, no he’d have to pull rare Super mario world 2-up moons to get out of Doflamino’s net.
Going Gear 3rd probably wouldn’t work and only make mince meat out of Luffy.
Does Luffy still need to blow up bones by putting a finger or thumb in his mouth or has he upped his gear 3rd game up since the time skip? I wasn’t paying attention to the start up of Elephant Gun.
If anything he can stretch out to Doflamingo, but Haki man. He could see it coming.

It looked to me like the Strings that he hit Sanji with had haki going thru them - meaning the strength of his control is amplified by haki, meaning he needs the haki for a certain level of effect. That means that enough haki can just power through it on some level.
And it should be obvious who the Haki king is going to be…

Y’all gotta cut my man Sanji some slack… He knew he couldn’t beat Doflo; he was just buying time for the crew to escape.
Sanji’s always been the clever one in the group- Robin has the booksmarts, Franky has the technical know-how, Brook has experience… but Sanji knows how to put it all together while kicking the shit out of mid-level bosses.
That said, Trafalgar Law has become one of my favorite characters… It’s too bad he’s about to get hit with the ol’ Naruto-style flashback+death combo…
