One Piece Thread: Gear 2nd!

lol co-sign kubo gives no fucks…dude literally breaks the fourth wall and makes fun of manga tropes and his own damn manga.

her lack of clothing is generally more hilarious in snowy arcs. The real question is does oda’s wife cosplay all his costume ideas for him.

Just talked with a friend of mine and the weather change hints that Dragon is coming to Dressrosa to overthrow Doflamingo

Haven’t read One Piece in over a year, time to catch up!

^_-;

No, it was from Nami…she fried the ‘art chick’ using her clima-tact staff.

thoughts on PW2? same shit w/ mo characters? better than the first?

[details=Spoiler]Man I just finished the scene of Ace’s death. Man that was tough on the young lad. It is like he couldnt do anything. Man it looked like Garp was about to betray Navy. I was like holy shit. Once “blood” is involved it is on. I wouldn’t be surprised he would’ve killed akainu. I want to see the fight between Zoro and the Blackbeard swordsman so bad (Shiliew)[/details]Slowly catching up but it is totally enjoyable. I was wasting time looking at bleach. I remember one day I was like fuck it let me see what the hype is about. I was hooked.

It’s much, much better than the first. I thoroughly enjoyed every hour of playing, and was somewhat disappointed when I got the platinum trophy.

Also, I’d say that the Straw Hats took their first L when they ran across Aokiji at Long Ring Long Land.

God damn you already platinum’d it? Still have yet to get everyone to 50.

Eh, I didn’t feel the urge to get everyone to 50, since it wasn’t needed for the plat, and two levels completed on Super Hard gives you enough Beli to level someone from 1-50.

so, any theories on how Kaido could be more powerful than whitebeard? He is the next villian it seems, which by anime law almost always means he is stronger. He also tried to attack whitebeard.

WB > Kaido IMO
But his fleet does have a lot of DF users so…

Yea its li

One piece does not follow that logic. They met aokiji before they met Lucci, yet who do you think is stronger? They met mihawk before most of any villain in the series, yet we all no that next to none of them can go toe to toe with mihawk.

In one piece, its clearly defined who is stronger then who, when they meet them has no bearing on their strength if we already know how strong they are.

Can’t even eat ice cream and watch the anime.

Spoiler

No matter how many times I watch the post E.Lobby arc I always get choked up.[details=Spoiler] I can’t watch Ash die either and I don’t even like Pokemon[/details]

except that WB was never a villain to the strawhats. Luffy met shanks crew before they made a name for themselves, since they were the first pirates we saw in the entire manga that puts them at the weakest. So they shouldn’t be able stop kaido’s crew with ease and still make it in time to end the war. Following that “anime law”.

Enel would be more of a match for Lucci despite Luffy meeting Enel before Lucci.

One Piece has matchups just like ST.

Enel vs Luffy was like 8-2 in Luffy’s favor.

Lucci vs Luffy was like 5-5

Enel vs Lucci is like 9-1 free

if cp9 actually could you haki it wouldnt matter

Haki doesn’t mean you can’t get electrocuted

That’s one of most amazing things about One Piece. Oda left himself enough wiggle room to conceptualize powers and levels of strength later on, put in enough time and thought to layout the groundwork for everything up to this point, and balancing-out most of it to make sure there is no clear upper-hand.

I mean look at Devil Fruits, how they’re divided into types (Paramecia, Zoan, Logia), and how they all share an inherently flexible weakness. Even how certain DFs can counteract or compliment one another is interesting too, it’s the Pokemon of superpowers. Then there’s Haki, which is also separated into 3 types.

What you have is one of the few interesting approaches to strength and power-levels in a manga. There’s no one simple definitive kind of power that makes a certain character stronger than everyone else like Chakra, Ki, or Reiatsu. All of these of elements are just are just tools, and the strongest characters in OP are the ones that understand and/or know how to effectively utilize them well.

Mneh, Enel wasn’t that uberpowerful. The weakest SH members survived several of his attacks.

I think Oda himself is quoted as saying that Lucci with rubber gloves would beat the crap out of Enel. Lucci’s got battle smarts and crazy speed, and can take WAY more of a beating than Enel.

To put it into Salty Bet terms, Enel’s the fighter that tries to zone and chip away at Lucci’s mexihealth, but once Lucci catches up to him he unleashes a death combo. The best Enel can hope for is a timer scam.

Lucci was one of the best boss fights in the series. I’d say that the fight was 6-4 in Lucci’s favor, though.

Despite that, it felt like a pretty even match-up. The best part about it was that there were no huge gimmicks being used. Just raw strength vs raw strength. It was glorious.

Lucci is also a really great character. Love his cool, calm, yet savage demeanor.

I still remember the look of disgust on Lucci’s face when Spandam was beating the crap out of a captured Robin.
