Toriko is pretty awesome. It’s One Piece, but with people crying over how delicious food is instead of their friends. The titular character does get some bullshit powerups from his gourmet cells, but everyone gets to dip in the BS powerup pool equally.
Yeah, that’s one of the things I like about Toriko. It’s got absolutely no shame or restraint. It’s a manga where EVERYONE has broken powers. For a distillation of that, read the Meteor Garlic arc. It plays out like a super-high-level “make up powers as you go” imaginary kindergarten fight. And it’s so stupidly entertaining for it.
Yup. Madame Sharley is NEVER wrong, it’s probably Endgame Luffy that will have the fortitude to do such a feat and for all the right reasons. Remember that ship which clearly resembled an ark!
This also presents another question. Did all these races (Fishmen, Mermaids, Longarm, etc.) exist before the Void Century?
LMAO! How did you know my plans? YOU SPY!!! But seriously, thank you very much for the well wishes! :china: You match my unwavering enthusiasm for One Piece and for that we can draw X tattoos on our arms and call each other NAKAMA! :p:
Nothing most likely. [details=Spoiler]Doflamingo has just warped the minds of the citizens to think that the last king was keeping them poor and that Doflamingo would become their new king and give them wealth, which he probably has through his black market deals. But yeah the point is that Doflamingo made them think like that.[/details]
One Piece has been really good with its Real World analogies as of late we had an arc on medicine and experimentation, Previous Arc was heavy talking about slavery and equality not just tolerance . I see Oda is clearly dropping jewels in his stories and not just making i punch you because you are in the way of my next power up.
Doflo has seem serious analogies to the politicians who push this whole I will make the nation better yet at the expense of the poor and middle class and freedoms of people around the world. He is like a monster of wall stret that got elected
[details=Spoiler]It wouldn’t surprise me if Doflamingo orchestrated the economic issues of Dressrosa in the first place. Probably as a means to take over the country and secure his position in the world government among other things.
We’ll probably get a bigger reveal later on that makes the character more despicable making it all the more satisfying when Luffy punches his face in and liberates the entire country. I’m expecting something on the scale of Luffy defeating Crocodile or Eneru. I’d totally be down for Rebecca joining the straw hats but that’s probably not going to happen. She’ll probably retake her country with the toy soldier.[/details]
It’s all about propaganda. Doflo probably hasn’t been doing much true brainwashing besides whatever makes people forget the people who’ve turned into toys. Just a matter of hiding the right things while showing the right things, and having a poker face through it all.
Nice bit of large-scale version of what Caesar was doing on the island, too.
Doflamingo more than likely killed/imprisoned the King, took over without any outsiders knowing, did some dirty shit, and then later publicly claimed to have taken over to stop the King’s “evil deeds”.
Oda’s standard practice of tugging my heart-strings isn’t going to work anymore, I’m immune to it now.
[details=Spoiler]At least that’s what I keep telling myself.
Whose to say Doflo didnt undermine the country’s economy . He clearly is getting money and protection from something greater than the marines .Hes is the only character shown so far with complete diplomatic immunity and arguably the largest amount of money
