One Piece Thread: Gear 2nd!

I would join a bunch of underground fighting syndicates that I’d locate through the deep web and my black market sources. Fashion myself a pretty paycheck over a period of 2 years after I am contracted by the cartel (hopefully Gus doesn’t poison me.)
I would fulfill a bunch of my greatest desires like getting fighting game lessons from Justin Wong and bedding Kate Upton using my vast wealth. Bribe a bunch of people into letting me win Evo, buy slim Jim and eat all their jerky and once all my wishes are complete I would fight my way through the White House and ask to be the presidents personal guard and let them do some testing so that I would have steady income and become a national hero like captain America.

^ Puff Puff Pass…

I would practice imbuing objects with my Armaments Haki. Playing sports with Armaments Haki could potentially make me like Bo Jackson. Putting haki in my baseball bat and obliterating baseballs, KOing everyone with my punching in boxing, bullrushing everything in my path in rugby, the list goes on. I would just have to be very dedicated and hone my overall skills to make use of my newfound power.

I wouldn’t do any of that stuff because I’d be at the beginning of the manga where haki wasn’t developed and had no rules so no one had no idea what it was.

True as that may be, it’s still very useful to help you see right pass a person’s “character” and look deep into his/her heart to find out what kind of person he/she is really like. Like for instance, let’s say you have this wannabe tough guy who’s all up in your face claiming that he will kill your ass. But by using CoO, you’ll notice that deep down inside, he’s actually a gentle person who’s only pretending to be a tough guy when in truth he won’t hurt a fly.

@stickystaines: I would play mind games on my bosses to see what makes them tick if I get CoO. If I get CoA, I would master the hell out of it first and then use it to compete in martial arts tournaments!

If I received CoA, the first thing I’d do is practice with it and hone the skill; just like white shadow. That would definitely my 1st priority.

Imagine receiving a brand new car but not knowing how to drive. Sure, one can probably imagine all the great stuff/places you can go with a car. But, knowing how to actually utilize that car/drive is the first step that needs to be taken. The same principle can be applied here as well with CoA.

Also, I just realized that I’m going to miss this week’s OP since I’ll be away for a week starting from the 5th. Kinda sucks since I was really looking forward to seeing how the tournament played out. Dammit. Ah well, guess I’ll just have to wait a bit. @white shadow, Hold down the fort while I’m gone! Oh wait, I can’t even call people out with a space in their name. Dammit SRK.

Anyways, I have a question for everyone that’s sorta similar to the last one.

If you could have one Rokushiki technique, which one would it be; and why? Also, the technique that you choose is at Rob Lucci’s level; in human form (he has fully mastered all 6 techniques which is evident by the fact that he can use Rokuogan). However, you cannot have Rokuogan (as you can only have 1 technique, and Rokuogan dictates that you must be a master of the former 6).

Here is a brief description of each technique that I found on the OP wiki:

Kami-e: The Kami-e makes the users’ body go limp in order to avoid any attacks, and float like a piece of paper. Very good for avoiding attacks.

Geppo: The Geppo allows the users to actually jump off the air itself, allowing them to stay in the air for much longer than usual. CP9 members can use this technique to cross great distances without ever touching the ground, or set themselves up for swift, aerial attacks. It should be noted that Rob Lucci has been seen kicking off the air with one leg at a time rather like hopping and keeping himself afloat.

Rankyaku: The Rankyaku is a powerful projectile technique, in which the users start by kicking at very high speeds and strength, sending out a sharp compressed air blade that can slice objects and greatly damage a human body. However, it has been shown that almost any length of appendage (such as a tail or neck) at high velocities are also capable of this move.

Shigan: The Shigan is a close-quarter combat technique, in which the user pushes their finger into a certain target at a very high speed, leaving a wound similar to a bullet wound. The Shigan’s shape is derived from the shape of the finger, hence the hit of Shigan will have more of an impact on Luffy’s rubber body (which normally reflects bullets) if it is sharper than the round bullet and resembles more modern bullets.

Soru: The Soru allows the users to move at extremely high speeds in order to avoid attacks, as well as to attack at higher speeds and with greater power. It was revealed that the principle of this move was to kick off the ground at least ten times in the blink of an eye.

Tekkai: The Tekkai hardens the users’ muscles to the level of iron, in order to nullify damage taken from attacks. However, it can be broken by strong enough forces. Tekkai can also be used to enhance the users’ attacks by the increased density one gets from using Tekkai.

Unlike the haki discussion where it came down 2 options (CoO and CoA), I’m having trouble picking one this time. I definitely don’t want Kami-e or Shigan, I know that for certain.

Soru and Geppo are kinda similar, but with Geppo I can actually fly in a way and go wherever I desire. But, with Soru I can move at extremely high speeds while being nearly invisible. If I was on a sinking ship or something Geppo would definitely be more useful, but If I was trying to get away from an angry pterodactyl Soru would probably be much more useful as he wouldn’t be able to see me.

Tekkai is really great for both defense and power, but Rankyaku actually gives me an extremely powerful ranged option. If I were to get hit by a car or something Tekkai would definitely be more useful, but if I was attempting to assassinate Putin through a brick wall from one hundred meters away Rankyaku would definitely be the better option.

Eh, I’m going to have to think about this some more. Perhaps looking at others responses may influence my pick. Plus, I’m sure that sure that Unreallystic will post something funny like

“Soru, easy. Take my girl’s clothes off in an instant like ‘WHOA!’.”
-:bluu:

I actually had this discussion maybe 50+ pages back and I realized that Tekkai is probably the best choice. A good defensive technique is just super practical, especially if you could use Jyabura’s Tekkai Kenpo.

Geppou does sound tempting until you realize if something were to happen to you while you at a great height you’d either die or become paralyzed since you would be in the real world. I would take the risk if learning Geppou meant I could do Lucci’s Kamisori (Geppou + Soru). That’s way too fun to pass up.

Soru seems cool but i imagine you can’t keep that shit up like you’re the fucking Flash.

I love the whole style (as you can already tell by my sig), but if I had to choose one for myself, it’ll have to be Tekkai.

I’d hone CoA down until I had control over to the point where I can rebuff attacks without injury to myself or others or destroy folk easily.

When it comes to sports, right now, I am too damn old to walk onto a NFL team as a RB but I might be able to walk on to a MLS team or something pulling some lower key Shaolin Soccer type isht.

Other then that, I figure being able to walk into the worst situations and most dangerous places in the world and as long as I don’t drop my guard have little to nothing to take me down should be able to get me money… somehow.

I’m an idiot.

With CoA, my wife would bust nuts constantly…though I guess with CoO, she wouldn’t have to tell me if thats the spot or not…hmmm

Well, as it turns out. I’m not leaving today, I’ll be leaving on the 10th. Thank god, I’m going to be able to see how Luffy’s match with Don plays out.

Dammit, the Rokushiki stuff has been discussed before. My mistake, I should have done more research initially.

At this point, I think that I’ve settled on either Soru or Tekkai.

Going on vacation? It’s cool man, I enjoy revisiting these random discussions to pass the time. It also gives me the chance to recollect all the random epiphanies I’ve had during the series.

For example, Zoro’s subtle use of Color of Observation when realizing the “breath” inanimate objects during his fight against Daz Bones. CoO doesn’t just work for people and animals, but it can be used to sense inanimate objects and surroundings. This means Gol D. Roger’s ability to “hear the voices of all things” (like talking to Sea Kings) might mean he had 100% cognizance of his surroundings and therefore manipulate them. It might also explain how he could carve his message on the virtually indestructible Poneglyph in Skypeia, he could feel the “breath” of the Poneglyph and carve into it. Same way how Zoro can now slice through steel.

Yeah, I am. Thanks for asking amigo. Can’t believe that I had the dates mixed up, I’m usually not this absent minded.

I like that Roger Poneglyph theory, it’s actually quite simple yet plausible. Rayleigh did mention that the Roger pirates couldn’t read the Poneglyph’s. He also hinted towards the reasoning behind Roger’s ability to write in the those ancient letters, that hint being the ability to “hear the voices of all things”.

I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I was when Luffy was able to hear the Sea King’s speech. I might as well have been a little kid on Christmas morning.

The whole “everything has it’s own energy, even inanimate objects” assertion makes perfect sense to me. It’s most definitely something that Oda would do, and it’s been hinted at time and time again.

Wasn’t what Roger said written on the golden bellfry and not on the poneglyph itself?

I’d be the best Poker player in the world.

Might look a little suspicious when your opponents keep passing out around you.

Watched the latest DVD releases for One Piece, which is around the Enies Lobby arc. I still love how bad ass this scene is.

One Piece is just full of bad ass walks to ‘shit’s about to get real’.

New chapter up

You have got to be kidding me.

Oda pls.

I read the latest chapter and at the end it had a comparison of Nami’s boobs from episode 5 (non existent) and episode 518 (38 E’s) We all love busty women but can’t Oda turn it down a bit? Naruto has one incredibly busty chick Tsunade Bleach had Mai but every female non tranny character in OP has big tits. Like its fine if one has it or two or hey even most but when the only females in the crew have big enough tits to feed all of Africa it’s kinda dumb. That being said I love seeing Nami and Robin in bikinis.
