Pretty much. It takes the shonen concept to extremes, and revels in it. Equal parts GUYS FIGHTING Y’ALL, FOOD Y’ALL, and BROMANCE Y’ALL.
Also the Arcs are over in a snap. Then a new arc starts instantly.
I’m surprised about Bellamy. Not necessarily that he survived, but that Doflamingo still kept him under his wing. His bitchass should be OHKO’d permanently!
Jesus Burgess was made for this arc lol. I wonder if he’s at least learned some Haki, because before Ace fricasseed his ass (which makes this scenario rather ironic).
My favorite part of this chapter is how Luffy’s mythos has spread far and wide (size exaggerations and such), to the point where the gladiators were in terror! LMAO they’re certainly in for a surprise later on.

Spartan was “that dude” when it came to traditional combat in an arena. It’s obvious that those in Dofla’s inner circle and the actually NW bigwigs aren’t jobbers. Remember Vergo and his Armaments Hakiness? Sanji was barely keeping up with him and he was merely a double agent. So yeah, just think like Dragonball Budokai Tournmaent and it will make a lot more sense. You have the strong traditional fighters and the uber-fied outliers that normal people can’t comprehend.
One thing I also like about this chapter is how it’s emphasizing not only the rarity of Devil Fruits (specifically Logias) but also showing many fighters who aren’t users. That’s been something I’d been wanting to see for quite a while.

I did like the little bit about the rarity of DF’s, but I didn’t like how they kinda derp’d around with it.
Claiming that Logia’s are the rarest DF type is false, as they are less rare then Mythical Zoans.
I was very surprised that Bellamy is alive. But oh well.
I wouldn’t want to use the bounties as a “power level” with One Piece, because I believe Zoro/Sanji are evenly match (although, I’d put my money on Zoro).

I haven’t done any “movesets” or anything, but I damn sure been thinking how a solid roster would look.

Sanji is NOT on Zorro’s tier. No no no. Is the separation great? No. Sanji is the legit 3 for the Monster Trio, but He’s not Luffy and he’s not Zorro. Putting it into perspective…Zorro would have more than likely beat Wergo (the haki dude last arc)…Sanji got his leg broke…
though you can’t use them as power levels directly either as its based more on exposure…Luffy isn’t 2-3 times stronger than Zorro, Zorro is higher than 120M, Sanji is at least 100, Robin isn’t higher than Sanji, and Brooke should be number 4 on the list.

I agree. It’s all about “exposure” and what they’ve done the Government didn’t like, not really who they defeated and such.
…but I don’t agree with Brook being #4. I’ll say Robin or Franky is #4.
My personal tier-list is:
Monster Trio: Luffy > Zoro > Sanji
Back-up Trio: Franky/Robin > Brook
Weak Trio: Chopper > Nami > Usopp
Oh, god… we are doing tier lists on One Piece now…
I think Franky may be looking to take Sanji’s spot actually…
Though we haven’t seen Sanji go all out yet, so who knows.
And remember, Law only sliced Vergo cause of his DF+Haki combined. If Zoro was fighting him, he’d probably be at a disadvantage just like Sanji was.
Naw Zoro would’ve cut that nigga Vergo. He SCARED Monet(a Logia) so bad she couldn’t put herself back together until he left. Zoro will cut a bitch, no matter what.
Sanji was handicapped during the Punk Hazard fights… While Nami was in his body, she got beat up pretty bad by the bounty hunter brothers, so he was pretty fatigued when he took on Vergo.
I still think Sanji is most definitely #3, and I’d even wager he’s very nearly if not even with Zoro… He just has very obvious weaknesses and tends to help the crew in other ways other than just brawling, so he hasn’t really had a chance to shine since they reached the New World.
There’s no way I’m taking Brook over Franky for #4. Brook is indeed a useful fighter, but Franky is a walking arsenal who has access to even more crazy weapons like mecha and tanks.

In speaking of One Piece fighting games, when are we ever gonna have another one? It’s been too long.
Regardless of Sanji being injured prior it doesn’t really deal with the fact that he could barely deal with Vergo’s Haki. Zoro is the first mate and has an ambition that far exceeds his; I don’t think Sanji is nearly as close in both strength and raw determination. (see: Thriller Bark)
Franky is definitely #.4 as far as I’ve seen. Robin’s ability solidifies her fifth spot but I can’t imagine her surpassing Franky without some Haki awareness. There’s a reason why she never attempts her ability on very strong foes.
Mythical Zoans are technically a sub-type, Logias on a whole are rarer.

Shirokage, you really think Robin goes over Brook? I see them as both fairly close in ability(I should probably move Brook down a tier if anything), but IMO Brook’s DF abilities nudge him over her.
Whilst Robin can decimate just about anyone with a well placed Clutch(or nut grab/punch on males) and can FLY, Brook can project his soul to do recon, run on water, and summon the freezing cold of the netherworld to freeze people. Robin’s limbs are also limited by her own physical strength making them only as strong as she is. Although she can get around this by combining multiple limbs to create giant arms/legs to crush fools with
Robin is a killer assist, but Brook can back up his crewmates and do more offensively as well.
Man, all this talk makes me want a Marvel-style One Piece 2D Fighter SOOO BAD…
Ok, three things:
- What about Rankyaku Hyobi and Tobu Shigan Bachi?
- I’m pretty sure that his human form can’t use Rankyaku Gaicho since it requires foot claws from his leopard form.
- I think it would be a cool idea for Lucci to have a version of Shigan Ouren that is a follow up special move while Lucci is in his Leopard form. To perform this version of Shigan Ouren, Tap P rapidly during Shigan.
Other then that, That movelist is pretty badass! A great fit for Lucci indeed!
