Ah you’re right (again). He did build up a resistance after being smothered with it in Impel Down. I keep forgetting important details today
I definitely agree that is part of his current ambition, but I still have to wonder what inspired him to set out on the sea to begin with. It’ll probably be a long time before we find out, but I await anxiously.
I’ve always believed him and Buggy probably both know how to get to Raftel. Buggy is clearly driven by greed and searching for treasure, so I’m curious why he hasn’t been actively pursuing One Piece. I thought it could possibly just be him afraid to step foot in the New World at his current strength. Another theory I had is that him and Shanks know what One Piece REALLY is, and it’s not something as profitable as your standard treasure, but something more personal. My G/F was under the assumption it was actually his Straw Hat, which kind of makes sense, but it’s not at Raftel… I’m talking crazy theory now though.
Edit: Some of that sounded stupid after I typed it. I’m not all here today.
Being in the New World and surrounded by dozens if not hundreds of experienced haki users, Ace had the opportunity to really hone his own haki skills.
Also, there’s Whitebeard; whether or not he was a Conquerer’s haki user himself, he had an incredibly vast knowledge of just about everything and I’m sure he could have at least taught Ace the fundamentals of the C. Haki.
Ace had all these resources at his disposal, but failed to take advantage of it; ironically enough, one of the strongest Devil Fruits acted as a crutch to Ace’s further development. Given his impulsive, short tempered and downright cocky attitude, he probably believed that it was enough to carry out his ambitions, but that wasn’t quite the case.
I have no doubt that if Ace was not a DF user he would have been able to live up to his full potential, possibly to Rayleigh or Shanks level because there’s a reason why some of the strongest people in the OP universe are non-devil fruit users.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Buggy and Shanks know what One Piece really is. Buggy has shown much respect for Roger so I know he’d honor the secret. I’m still under the assumption that only Roger alone has ever stepped foot on Raftel, it’s probably not an ordinary island.
Oda has said One Piece is actually something physical and not just a metaphor or something whimsical, so whatever it is it probably has importance to the whole world, maybe even reality itself.
Oh and you sound totally coherent, don’t be so hard on yourself.
I wouldn’t go so far. We do not know for certain if Ace capable of using a form of Haki, it probably just not something the story needed to show. The 3 Admirals and Marco are all Logias who can use Haki, but it’s not surprising since they have extensive battle experience.
Yeah I remember that, he pretty much fulfilled that dream already. Post-Roger he might have acquired a secondary dream, inspired by him in some way.
Sorry to nitpick, but Marco isn’t logia. He’s a mythical creature Zoan (phoenix). Sengoku (buddha) is as well.
Also, Magellan is actually a paramecia and not a logia type. He can create poison and control it, but like Mr. 3, he can’t turn his body into his element.
Yeah I deleted the stupid parts after I read them lol. On an irrelevant note, I was thinking about the timeline of things today. Brook and his crew were killed off around the same time Roger was entering the Grand Line right? They took the old doc onto their ship so he could search for them while taking care of Roger’s illness. And Brook was alone for some 50 years before current events. That would put Shanks and Buggy at around 60 something years old… People really age well in OP…
Naw, Shanks and Buggy are in their late 30s or mid 40s, Brook and co probably were killed before they even got Roger’s ship, which would have been in their mid teens and the doc came on the ship looking for Brooks crew when they had gone missing for a number of years.
Actually Marco is a Zoan with Logia properties due to being a phoenix, I just didn’t feel like splitting hairs. He’s still completely intangible which was the main issue.
Magellan was mentioned not because he was a Logia but because his poison is harmful to the touch and he can completely envelope himself with it.
I wonder if Luffy is going to meet CEO Wapol again in the future?
It stands to reason that Shanks and Buggy weren’t part of Roger’s crew when he was a rookie. IMO they were only on it during the time of his final voyage (to Raftel). If they were in their teens at that time, then both Shanks and Buggy are currently in their late 30s or early 40s.
Personally, I’m thinking he’ll end up meeting just about everyone he met before (and I’m hoping that Vivi spends some time with them again).
I wonder if Buggy will actually see some meaningful upgrades.
Also, if he is Shichibukai now, I wonder then we’ll get to see a meeting between his crew and the Kuja pirates, specifically Alvida and Hancock. Catfights over Luffy anyone?
I’m also interested in seeing Buggy’s status, especially since he has a crew full of strong guys that even WB said would be troublesome if they became enemies.
Yeah the crew alone is a big upgrade for Buggy. I’m sure he’s made some personal progress as well. I think his encounter with Shanks at Navy HQ seeing the difference in strength after all these years probably gave him some motivation to up his game too.
Also, Hancock vs Alvida would be very one sided and entertaining.
Another side note, I think I just decided on my Halloween costume this year. Gonna need to find a blue wig.
(…I just realized I didn’t get around to reading last chapter twice like I intended since I got lost on some pages.)
Thanks, Redbeard.
Initially, I was thinking you were talking about the cover page–where it took me a literal minute to even find Zoro–until I got to that last page. I wonder if Zoro is pissed solely because he’s a drunkard, heh.
Also…when did Robin put on sunglasses?
I kinda doubt it. If he has, then I see it not really mattering because he either everyone else, including some of his more powerful underlings, have made more significant gains or he’ll end up meeting someone who already would have curbstomped him and having to fight them due to still having to safe face for the people he picked up from Impel Down. This is especially true since Alvida is apparently more than willing to play The Starscream given that she fucking abandoned him to Impel Down in the first place.
Speaking of which, I’m more interested to know if he picked up anyone interesting from Impel Down. And speaking of Alvida…
Haha. I keep forgetting Alvida likes Luffy. I rather doubt that will happen, at least openly, since no one knows Boa helped him (yet), otherwise Kuja Isle would be pretty fucked, even if it is in the Calm Belt.
I thought that Whitebeard had bought into the fact he was really faking in his incompetence and that Whitebeard had thought Buggy had more powerful allies than he actually did, especially since Whitebeard was more focused on saving Ace and tanking the shit out of everything. After all, the only decently strong person that we know that he picked up from the war’s aftermath at this point is Mr. 3, who has interesting powers, but is certainly weaker than Mr. 1, who Mihawk nearly one-shot, and Crocodile, who Jozu was able to cleanly hit pretty hard. Given that’s a taste of caliber of people he’s going to have to go against in New World…yeah.
Np. I had trouble spotting Zoro for a minute too. I think he’s pissed because everybody he’s ran into so far was a bum. He’s gonna end up swimming out there and hitting Hodi with another one-shot in a minute.
Also Robin pulled those out of her boob Trish style.
