I have a feeling that stuff in this flashback will be really important later on, to the point where we’ll look back at it and realize that it was absolutely necessary.
It literally has been forever and a day since we’ve seen anyone but Luffy cut lose. And really, it’s been a while for Luffy as well. All we’ve seen since his last off with Moria has been only Luffy destroying mooks, and irritating crazy strong folk that would have curb stomped him if in most cases he wasn’t trying to run past or away from them, besides his brief skirmish with Van Decken.
Personally, I agree that there is going to be something to come out of this chapter aside from backstory, especially with that paper the Queen just got and the fact that Sea Kings are drawn to Shirahoshi’s cries. Fishman island most likely will burn but what comes out of it will be something that will most likely bridge the gap between Otohime and Fisher Tiger’s ideals. After the Strawhats curb stomping Hodi’s goons, which we are probably still a good 5 chapters away from seeing the start of the first fight.
I also hope to see Luffy go all out, these jobbers aren’t a real challenge though, especially with the way Zoro dispatch their “boss”, underwater no less. I seriously hope Vander Decken and Roidrage Hodi both gang up on Luffy. (no homo.)

That said, shizz is all starting to make sense now - Shirahoshi’s power, Van Der Decken wearing a hat, the prediction that Luffy will cause the destruction of Fishman Island while hinting that it might really be Van Der Decken since he too wears a hat.
Things are really starting to make more sense. Shirahoshi and silhouette seems to hint to me that __________ is the man who is chosen.
It’s a shame what happened, and I think I know who are behind it.

Is that like a live show or advertisement for cosplay? Because I would imagine that Chopper, Franky and Usopp in those outfits would be too creepy to take young children to see. Fuck, I wouldn’t want to meet those fools in a place that wasn’t well lit.
But, damn, I got new respect for the Mermaid princes. My original thought that one of them would be traitor seems void at this point. Although, now I have to wonder, is this flashback what Jinbei is telling the Strawhats (i.e. they know Shiraihoshi can summon giant sea kings) or was that just for audience benefit? Because outside of the Princes, Vander Decken and maybe and Hodi (if that look last chapter meant something), who but Jinbei will be able to tell/warn them of it?

I’d actually think it most likely was some douche Fishman island inhabitant that was extremely fearful or hateful of the idea of mixing with humans or the Queen’s dream for the island. Although if the noble did hire someone to do the deed, we all know unless it is some untouchable figure in the OP world, it most likely will be a fishman islander.
Also so was Queen Otohime’s dream for the island to become part of the World Government or for it to somehow physically be raised above the ocean? I thought I knew but I am no longer sure.
90% sure I know who killed Otohime.
The plan was for Fishmen to freely roam on the surface, and eventually melding into human society- peacefully.

That’s said, there’s only one way to confirm this. As soon as she mentions any sort of “dream”, then we know she’s joining the crew.
It was a Fishman who killed the queen. It wil lbe revealed in the next few chapters in present time. I’m pretty sure Van der Drecken or whatever had somethign to do with it, as he too kthe oppurtunity to ‘touch’ the princess in an inappropriate manner :arazz:
