Omega Gouken!

What do you guys think they’re going to do/change? What would you like to see?

The stuff that was done there would be awesome but maybe a bit over the top even for omega.
Those light and medium tatsu though, I think they are pretty sick and should be introduced in the real game. Its all Gouken needs to be perfect in ultra… Maybe I should bomb capcom with that footage… hmm

in the spirit of omega i think it should be some over the top shit, since that seems to be what everyone else is getting

  1. slower hp fb-hold down hp - would increase efficacy of hp vs narrow jump arcs,and would hold opponents in air juggle state longer for denjin, resets and kitchen sink.
  2. cr lk tatsu - the launcher , sure lock into other tatsus or resets or ultras
  3. normals off of gflip- no one would stand a chance
  4. cancellable gflip slide into kongos
  5. iat’s , all strengths fadc-able

id even use vanilla gouken if the above tools were given just to show off!!!

I did some thinking since I made this post. I thought about how Gouken would play if he were “Evil Gouken”

  1. He has shoto-esque light normals
  2. Light tatsu doesn’t leave the ground and launches after
  3. EX Tatsu is overhead and hits once, like his air tatsus now
  4. EX Palm punches to the sky, acting as his reversal
  5. His fireballs are unchanged, but he has oni/akuma/evil ryu red fireballs
  6. No longer has air tatsus but can use tatsus from demon flips, they fall slowly to the ground.
  7. s.LP is now +6 on hit

These changes would give him a very Gouken-esque play on the “Evil combo:”

c.lk c.lp c.lp x light tatsu, medium or heavy palm (to finish the combo

As well as some fun extended combos he never had:

c.lk s.lp c.HP x fireball FADC c.HP x light tatsu heavy palm

I’m mildly surprised they didn’t give him a teleport and no new command normal / dive kick. Though I guess he might just not notice those addition yet.

In the lore of Street Fighter, Gouken’s Palm Strikes are an adaptation of Akuma’s teleport technique, so he already “has” one.

Based off what ComboFiend demonstrated, it’s going to be a moveset that is a mishmash of existing animations.

Perhaps we’ll get a move that chains a bunch of normals into a tatsu… Maybe there’s a ex-palm that automatically jumps up and follows up with the same animation as his demon flip grab. Launch them up, and smash them to the ground. It’s a short and powerful combo, just like Gouken’s bnb.

i believe i was first on record to mention tatsus off of gflip back in super, im totally down with that idea
…cause i could swore i saw a glitch where it happened vs fei in the corner off a nj, almost like a kara ex flip into ex iat , i fuckin got a hard on!.. yet I could never recreate it …

how about far mk is now cancellable to palms and tatsus, and maybe airparry >iat’s now

how about an armored dash out of all palms at cost of an fadc?

I believe Omega Gouken will be really close to his Boss Counterpart.

My changes wishlist (some over the top s#*t but who cares):

  • Flip cancelable to tatsu.
  • Air parry earlier activation possible, EX absorbs 2 hits.
  • Air tatsu recovery and height restriction drastically reduced.
  • Palms are faster, EX has armor.
  • Fireballs charge faster, EX is two hits, direction is dependant of button combination (straight, high or both).
  • Regular counter is changed back to 2 zones (antiair or antiground), 3rd button changes kongo to a hitting parry with a longer recovery (throw invincible). EX kongo absorbs 2 hits.
  • cr.lp hit adtantage increased so link to far lk is possible.
  • Ultra 1 startup reduced to 8f

That’s a freaking badass Gouken right there.

Flip can parry from startup until recovery. That would be nice for normal, everyday Gouken.

Especially EX

id burn full super to ex flip parry ex tatsu out of that ONE last jump in attempt for the W

Make Ultra 1 Shin Shoryuken a one hit kill when full animation, heavy damage when not full animation… and stun on block ;p

I am really looking forward to Omega mode, I am almost hyped. I really hope Gouken will be stupidily broken as fuck; actually I hope everybody will be broken and that the general brokness balance the chars out in the big picture. If there will be a handfull or nearly a dozen of characters representing sort of a top tier - not only one or two clearly dominating - I can see me playing Omega a lot.

Will be really interesting to see what Capcom had in mind for Gouken… hopefully he will be shown in one of the earlier upcoming Omega vids. I really hope it will not just be improvements to his existent meta game, which could also be in regular Sf4. Completely new and broken moves will make it interesting… So many possibilities to make him broken…

  • 2hit fireballs
  • lights confirm in ex pain train (maybe over target combos)
  • new target combos (far.lk x far.hk, pleeease)
  • counter gimmicks (holy shit Ryu seems to have a parry…)
  • command grabs (e.g. Balrog)
  • walk speed or movement in general
  • etc.

I can not even comprehend what could be possible for Gouken…

… and hopefully Omega will use more of the underutilised wall bounce system…

jokes aside, his fireballs will probably change. Either to resemble Ryu’s or Akuma’s :smile:

other character are getting easier counters …gouken needs focus dash into kongo to stay relevant
