On M. Bison’s Scissor kick and Kara throw as a punishment: Depth wise

I really hope this helps. For M.Bison and the light scissor kick punishment, I’ve determined that a “well timed Kara throw” is indeed a reliable option.
However, this really relies on how far away you are from him when he does the scissor kick.

Go to training mode
Use these as reference points: the tip of Bison’s forward foot when he is crouching, and the tip of vega’s foot.
Record Bison charge db, doing a light scissor kick, and hold db right after you begin the scissor kick, returning him to crouch when he is done.

I have determined that If you place Bison’s point in the exact center of the map, the tip of vega’s foot will need to be, at most, 2 tiny squares away from the tip of bison’s foot before he does the scissor kick to be in kara throw range after you block and the move is done.
Kara throw range in this case would be at most about .8 of a tiny square away from bison’s point.

However, we don’t all see every stage as some matrix, so to put in simpler terms, if the tips of bisons foot, and vegas foot are, at most, extremely close to touching after you block the light scissor kick, you will be in range for the kara throw.

Then it’s all just up to your timing.
I only have myself for confirmation, so I’d like it if someone else tests this theory.
If theres a problem with this, lemmie know

This is all using Fierce Kick to throw as a Kara Throw

Well said. Came across a decent El Fuerte today, and I was lost. That fight was a mess. No idea which way was up and which way was down.

ElF players do seem particularly susceptible to EX FBA and even df.hk though, since they appear to be too busy putting in 2145 commands at the same time to block properly.

^^

Kx3>all his oki games.

So what’s the general strategy when playing against a Seth user (and I mean a damn good one)? I know someone who mains Seth and it’s next to impossible for me to consistently beat him.

is his name neokarsh or sumthin like that?

anyways when i play him i try to rush mix rushdown with zoning and always try to defend his cross ups. plus one seth combo could mean stun so be on ur toes at all times

No, his name is MoniraKing, an XBL friend of mine.
Anyway, so the basic idea to rushdown Seth whenever I can, hopefully in an attempt to dizzy him?

dizzying seth should be your primary goal, he has something retarded like 750 stun so a throw poke and a FA df. rh lk ST ex ST will dizzy his ass

the problem is getting in, its like the dhalsim matchup but his SB makes it a pain to get in and he has some wicked combos, with sim if you fuck up you eat a limb, with seth you might get dizzied and raped

be patient and wait for an oppening, you can jump sbs because his srk isnt huge damage but dont get in the habit of it, look for him to go for a cross up and flip and then punish, most seths try to do d. mk d. mk d. mk to cross up and flip avoids it and lets you punish, once your in poking range you can shut him down and switch between out poking and rushdown

each seth player ive played has a different style, the worst ones are the jump back fierce punch SB spam seths, its hard as hell to get in but if you build meter you can ex SHC an SB and your in and their screwed

Worst idea ever.

Just played a Sagat who would jump back on my Ex SHC, the camera would continue to pan, he would wind up behind me, and he would punish. Never seen it before.

i would avoid naked shc then, ive ran into some players who are ballsy enough to do that, i just dont use ex SHC unless its a very specific situation, like opponents who FADC around thinking it looks cute, or if someone is always jumping up to hit me out of FBA’s

and of course it can punish fireballs, its not an overly useful move vegas other armor breaking move is much better ST, but ex SHC does catch people who like to FADC around all the time

Same happened to me but against a Ken player. Surprised me.

I’m betting it is probably abusable by all.

If you have a guy doing this I think a light shc should catch him in the jump.

Nope, you’d just land and get hit from your cooldown. How about EX Barcelona to him instead? It MIGHT hit him as he jumps.
I don’t find myself using EX SHC on their wall too often when they’re close to their edge though, because of the sole fact that it can miss the wall a lot. It’s always at the back of my mind, but I always rule it out if they’re that far from me. They can easily jump on reaction and counter you anyway. I do it empty SPARINGLY to catch them off guard, vs fireballs, or during poke strings, so they have less time to react from blocking pokes.

Unless I’m thinking differently from what you’re describing. I’m assuming you mean you do it to their wall, and they jump back so you never reach the wall.

Nope my wall.

Oh… I don’t think it’s a good idea to throw empty EX SHC’s from your own wall, feels like a waste of meter imo. I only use it from my own wall as a punish to fireballs and spammers or moves with long recovery.
If you’re countering them, they shouldn’t have time to react. If they do, then you’re doing it too late, or you’re trying to counter a move that recovers too quickly. Is there some other situation where EX SHC via your wall is useful? I’m kinda missing something here, I just know it.

I think some of you guys are misunderstanding the meaning of matchups. It’s not about what a smarter player would do or not, it’s only about general comparison of two fighters, be it DMG, Stun, Priority or whatever. It’s about what move beats what move, which player has better mixups, and all that - always keeping in mind that the two players playing each other are playing perfect. It’s not about what happens if you abuse something, cause no perfect player is gonna kkk or rh a thousand times just to get stuffed in the next second.

According to TD Vega ELF is 5:5.
Amen.

I think that was the problem…my timing was off.

Anyone know some good pointers against Dictator’s head stomp? That move pisses me the heck off, and it seems like 90% of Dictator’s moves are nonpunishable
