Old Vega Matchup Thread

I’m pretty sure you can grab him DURING the roll, so you can easily grab him if he rolls passed you. Maybe I’m wrong.

i think you can but i play online mostly ( no arcades in illinois ) and i dont wanna risk getting TT’d when i can just back dash and punish it if he whiffs

You sir have positive rep coming your way…I’m almost at enough posts.

Thanks a bunch for the tips Jarekov and Rizhall.:wgrin: I actually followed alot of that advice in my previous matchups against Able, but I had no idea Scarlet Terror was useful in this match. I opted to not use it very much at all as I was scared it would be too risky, but now that I know it’s actually a useful tool (at least in this matchup) I’ll try to incorporate it more into my game.

its a good tool just make sure not to throw it out naked too often, use it how you would use a shoryuken ( against abel at least ) because it beats out a lot of his moves

and in general ive been implementing ST into my game alot more since i figuired out you can do df. rh lk ST ex ST, its such a brutal way to get dizzies and mix that in with cr. mk st. rh footsies and you have people getting dizzied very quickly

not one person ive faced in like 2 weeks has had a good answer for my rushdown/ dizzy strat, as long as you play mindgames while doing it even srk happy ryus will get dizzied and raped

thanx saint, i keep getting negative rep for retarded shit, like on master chibis thread i told some kid to stop making posts asking chibi to make an av with a porn pic in it( the first post says in bold NO PORN ), and some one gave me negative rep, thats one of many dumb things thats made me get negative rep, and i usually only post in here with constructive shit to help out my fellow claw users

LOL yeah that’s pretty lame. I’ve been negged before just for being an 09 user lol. Whatever.

Good Rufus info though. I don’t fight all that many, but I’ll be sure to incorporate those tips next time I do.

See this is one thing I have trouble with. How do you juggle with ST after df.rh? It doesn’t seem possible, as you have to hold db. to charge for ST, don’t you?

it is hard to do, ST doesnt have as long of a charge time as RCF though so it is possible just make sure your immediatly go to db after u input rh, and you do the ST when their almost hitting the ground ( i think its right when they reach vegas knees, but its more or so muscle memory for me not the visual cue ), just go into training and practice it a bunch, once you have it down you’ll be getting a ton of dizzys on people

the stun on this combo is retardedly good use it and love it, this is quickly becoming my BnB when i have meter just because of the number of dizzys im getting in matches now

Sounds good, off to training mode it is then.

You have to be playing some pretty wack fuertes if they’re just diving into your roundhouse all day. That just simply won’t work to stop smart runs, not to mention that fuerte doesn’t have to run at people to attack them. It is also very dangerous to try and play a methodical poking game against a character that has 2 hit super armor on a move that moves him into your face instantly.

To do cosmic heel into ST, you just have to charge fast. As soon as you hit RH, already be moving to DB and charging. Timing is something you get used to, it isn’t actually that hard once you get used to it. That’s what I do when I hit a focus with vega, cosmic heel to 2 ST’s.

edit: looks like the combo to ST question was already answered, sorry

all im saying is almost all the options out of Habenero dash can be stuffed with st. rh or flip, ex dash also gets stuffed by st. rh because it breaks it with a cr. lp, and feurte does have to be close to you to attack you, and i just cant see him getting in without taking more damage then he can put out, only dangerous thing about him is his ultra and his infinite, and neither one should land on a smart vega player

I’m not sure if this has been posted already or if this is 100% true, but I just punished a blocked horizontal Blanka ball with an ultra. Possibly a blocked ball is a free ultra for us.

Add that onto the jumping back fp and Blanka doesn’t seem so bad anymore!

[edit:

I see this has been posted in the BHC Project thread, but I’ll leave this here in case anybody doesn’t catch it from there!]

Fuerte can mix you up from almost half a screen away with manual control of his run options, plus he can go off the wall, plus f+MK goes a long way and has some fairly ridiculous properties when it comes to beating attacks. He doesn’t need to be in your face. It’s not an easy match for Fuerte, but if you’re completely shutting him down, you’re playing bad Fuertes (which is unsurprising, because he’s got a huge learning curve). There are very few good Fuertes out there. I’m barely above mediocre (itself an accomplishment), and your strategy above wouldn’t shut me down.

I think once you meet a Fuerte who’s actually confusing, takes his time, and baits you with stopped runs, backdashes, jump-ins and short wall-bounces, your opinion will change.

Jambell, good info but Blanka is still a hard beat down for Vega. Im dabbling in ranked and i keep coming across Blanka users who turtle and counter all the time.

The irony is that Blanka is more annoying than any other character in the game because almost anybody can pick him up and be decent with him. I dont even know half his moves or techniques but i can win with him with ease.

I just wonder why we put ourselves through learning stuff with the beloved Vega and taking such care in matches when any gimp can pick up a Blanka and beat us down with relative ease. Also try picking up Sagat and watch in amazement as his normals beat down without hardly trading and knock off 10% of the life-bar. How easy life could have been…

Love is blind!

Will I be shunned if I mention that I have a MUCH harder time beating Fuerte users than Blanka users? Blanka doesn’t give me much trouble anymore.

El Fuerte is like a collapsing star that has just done two fat lines of meth and is a level 9 Ranger dual wielding Kukris. So no you shouldn’t be shunned.

your right their, i havent fought any fuertes who have given me trouble, i was actually debating alting him but my fingers are not nimble enough

anyone who plays a good fuerte add me on xbl i do need some practice with someone better then who i usually play

Once I get my new stick replacement(right now I can’t jump or crouch><) in the next few days, I’ll be on xbox and add you jarekov, or if you want to add me go ahead. It’s totally understandable that you haven’t played a very good fuerte, since they are rare in general and extremely rare on xbox live.

Seriously.
I need Gen vs. Vega videos, now!

How do you play against a target that’s constantly jumping over you, crossing and mixing you up?!

I’ve been playing against two of the best in the business and just don’t have an answer. Playing keep-away is much more difficult than it looks on paper.

So, that’s my urgent request. If you find any videos of this type (where Vega wins), let me know or post it in the video section!

thanx man, im always looking for people to practice with and i havnt met anyone who plays feurte willing to get in a few rounds
