Hear hear… after today I felt like ripping my hair out. Some serious bullshit. every time someone gets some momentum going against me with a jump in game, it’s so fucking frustrating that all Vega can do is sit there. Like what the fuck? Why can’t scarlet terror be a half decent move? Fuck this. So many times I’ve performed my ultra as well and it shits the bed for me, and yeah, jumping to the wall and … not making the jump makes me seriously go bananas. That’s just completely fucking unfair, now I’ve wasted meter trying to do an EX sky high claw and now I’m bouncing around all over the fucking place so someone can finish me? Fuck that. Fuck. That.
Man. Today is the most pissed off I’ve ever been about the whole Vega situation. I have to work my ass off just to win against some serious scrubs and I still fucking lose because I just can’t get away with any mistakes. sigh
What’s up guys? As you can see I’m new to posting but I’ve been browsing/lurking for awhile. First i would like to thank all of you guys. Your info on Vega’s match ups have been invaluable to me. :wgrin: The only match up I have problems with are chun-li , fei-long and blanka. :annoy: Has anyone faced a good Gouken?
I know playing with Vega is frustrating… but think of the satisfaction you feel when you land a super izuna drop for the win (ended two matches like that today against a turtling Ryu) , or when you dismantle a so called top tier fighter.
I used Vega because he kind of fit my playstyle (see Twelve in 3S). I’m not trying to sound like a prick, but abandon the thought about beating “higher tier characters with lower tiers for the satisfaction”, because it eventually eats away at your head when you take the time to think about what you’re really trying to accomplish. But I mean for anyone who just likes playing Vega regardless of SF politics
didn’t mean it that way. :nono:It was just an example. I’ve been playin street fighter since 88. my fav of the series up until now has been SFA 3. I started playing with Vega since he was available. He fits my play style as well. (he’s the only NINJA in the game) trust when I tell you that I do not get caught up in the whole tier crap. Others do and they always go for the jugular. they under estimate you. that’s why it’s satisfying to defeat them. nothing more nothing less. anyway… again thanks for the knowledge dropped in here guys. I’m taking out Boxers almost consistently, gief is no longer a problem and Honda is an afterthought.
Once he’s successfully jumped at you, what do you do? I seemingly have no answer for his crossups and rekka mix-ups. Once he’s on me, I can’t get him off.
I can focus attack to deal with his first jump-in, and that usually results in a free df+RK --> EX wall dive --> Izuna drop. But if he knocks me down? Ballgame.
I haven’t read the whole thread, just the first post, but the fuerte matchup is completely incorrect imo. You can’t just backflip out of everything he does like the author suggests really, fuerte has one of the most damaging meterless ways to punish that kind of thing in the game. You’ll end up dizzy with your mask on the floor the minute that the fuerte player predicts a backflip. A smart vega would forget that he even has the Kx3 in that match.
I really don’t think this match is good for vega. You can go for a runback grab on his wakeup and if he backflips out of it you still have time to punish with the fierce combo, which with vega’s dizzy meter being low, is very very bad. Fuerte’s standing strong slaps all vega’s limbs clean and can be cancelled to a run. Anytime vega jumps off the wall and goes anywhere near fuerte he is gonna get airthrown. I’d give it 6-4 fuerte personally.
This is really the thing that drives me completely insane. Balance fixes and whatnot… sure, all of us can think of a few things Vega needs, but balance needs testing, and testing takes time.
But the bugs need hotfix yesterday. I still can’t believe the game made it live with the camera bug in place. Sure, it only affects a few characters, but c’mon. I’ve had this shit happen multiple times in a single match. You’re telling me they didn’t catch that in testing?
I can deal with the character being weak, and needing to work harder than opposition. That’s regrettable, but fine. I am not happy about the game deciding it’s time for me to lose. That’s my number one issue with Vega right now.
his normals are actually pretty good, especially his air-to-air. I’ve also found a lot of success with st. fwd, that move has a lot of range. It’s just everything else about him that sucks. If he only had a solid reversal, like ex walldive should have a little invincibility on it, if only to just get him out of the corner. His air-throw is pretty good so that can take care of people who just keep jumping in on you. His ultra…that hitbox seriously needs to be bigger. I would have mained Vega in this game, but I decided to spare myself the frustration.
Glad to see after reading through the pages there was some info against Blanka. Vega is very fun to play with and i plan on him staying my main in this game. Just going to take alot more work than the rest of the characters. Winning with him really is a challenge compared to my main character in the Tekken series which is Bryan Fury. Keep the info on vega coming. Now back to more practice against Blanka.
I’ll contribute what little knowledge I have. Aside from the characters already listed, I only really have a bit of knowledge with Rufus, Gen, and Cammy.
im not sure wether this has been posted already, but anyway.
blanka:
db+HK is your friend, try punishing his horizontal roll with df+hk and db+hk, i believe its possible. also you can punish his vertical roll with hard SK after having blocked, i pulled this off yesterday by accident.
