Okay lol i got it now. Lol about 17+9. I don’t actually play Ken just wondering what I can and can’t punish with. Thanks much tho eventhubs is nice for frame data
I think it was Highlulu that posted something about not being able to FA after an opponent blocked his f+mk. It is true that you are -1f.adv on block. But Ryu’s sweep has a 5f.start-up. You should be able to FA-absorb it in time.
By using a mp.DP and follow-up exDP you can get above 250 and it only costs 1bar.
A single exDP by itself (with all hits) gets about 240dmg… then add in the 60dmg for the AA mp.DP.
> So you are spending 3 bars and 1 ULTRA to get 250ish? You can probably tweak it to get roughly 300. But at a cost of 3bars… not worth the trouble.
thanks… looks like online play was trying to teach me a bad habbit. if it’s 5 frame start-up and ken is -1 on block… would lk or lp beat sweep? both only have 3 frames of startup. 1 frame disadvantage + 3 frame startup should beat out a 5 frame startup or am i misreading that?
I agree, most people I play just wait and spam unsafe moves. That’s so boring. Having someone throw a fireball across the screen is about as aggressive other players get. Guess it’s not for everyone.
With perfect timing yes.
I don’t play online. It only frustrates me. Even the slightest occasional delay messes up the experience for me.
I enjoy the live arcade - nothing beats having a crowd of top players and the atmosphere. Had my first hosting of SFIV at my place Saturday. Invited top players I met at the different arcades with differing specialist.
Gief, Blanka, Vega, Ryu, Akuma and my Ken
The best fun ever. Free sf4 on a 42inch and ordering in PIZZA.
Finding good players with good connection is still fun gunslinger, your missing out, unless you have someone over your house everyday or a sparring buddy. THere’s great players on PSN;) and full or 4 bar matches MANY times feel just like offline…
wish i could find more offline matches. i had to miss the last tourney in my area (sac) it was a tourney like 15 minutes away in davis… unfortunately the next one is a team tourney and i don’t know many serious players in my area to get a team going. i should just bite the bullet more and drive to davis to play but yeah that’s a bit rough for every session.
I could be down for some SF4 in Davis if you wanna roll co-op to Davis.
i would be down, we just need a 3rd and to figure out characters (tourney is no repeats) it’s on the 6th.
lol. no go for team-ken.
That’s why it pays off sometimes to be an all-rounder or atleast have a 2nd main.
In my situation it is easy - I’m the only serious Ken player around in these parts. No conflicts at all. After the major tournament is over… I’m switching to Ryu or Akuma. Too many hard match-ups around right now with so many, Boxers, Blanka’s and Giefs
I know man but my skills is mad weak right now. There’s a high probability of me hosting a session at my place sometime next week. You down to level up?
Don’t think anybody’s tried this because it’s stupid and risky but for some of the combo supers you can FA the first hit and kick them out of it. I did it offline against my brother who was playing as Chun, I was overusing focus
This isn’t a good way to do things, but if you’re using a focus when a super like that starts, Fei Long and Dan would probably work the same way, just let it go as soon as the first hit connects instead of freaking out.
Omnicloud, do you still play ranked or only CE? I think I’ve faced you in ranked before.
so… been messing around with the clownage combo a bit more… and between that and helping treasure den with a weird late aa srk > f-ultra… i found a actual use for the clownage combo where you can squeeze more damage out of that than doing FA > ultra.
reminder for those who forgot about magman’s clownage combo:
lvl2 or 3 focus attack (or ch) > dash forward > taunt > fp srk right before they hit the ground > fadc > f-ultra.
in magman’s video he uses the fadc on the first hit of the srk, however you don’t need to and it’s actually better to wait, fadc the second hit then pause to let the guy fall a bit before throwing out the ultra, this way you get 570 damage with a full ultra charge. lvl 3 focus > ultra is 475, standard clownage combo is 533, but yeah why not get that extra damage if it can ensure a KO.
hope this helps some of the other kens that like to keep it flashy
What’s the highest damage combo someone can do in training mode against bot-Ryu using full meter (non-infinite and non-regenerative).
Basically - the highest damaging real-world combo?
I got 689dmg.
Can anyone do betterz? I won’t reveal the moves involved just yet. Let’s see if people can come up with something better.
Just for simple trivia. What is Ken’s most damaging nonEX and nonULTRA combo? I got 403dmg
—This is my dizzy punisher combo I’ve always used.
A ULTRA will do more damage than a combo of ‘FA3… ULTRA’. So if you want to punish dizzy with ULTRA. Then just do clean ULTRA. The reason for this is below. Ultra comes in at 70% damage scaling after a FA.
MORE TRIVIA
Now that I’ve got my T.E stick. I’ve had a chance to try things out.
Anyone notice FA and an Ultra counts as ‘two-hits each’ in relation to damage scaling?
And after a connected ULTRA - for a certain time - all extra hits are scaled to 95% and then after a bit more time 96% and then back to 100% It’s about roughly a 10second period of scaled damage after ULTRA. **Edit… lol - this is due to damage scaling of injured opponents. After a time… the opponent’s health recovered- so there was no damage scaling afterwards. **
Does it involve a dizzy or a counter hit or both? If no I have no idea… If yes I have no idea. I’m interested in the answer.
j.hk, cl.hk, hk tatsu I’m pretty sure.
FA’s and the first hit of an ultra count as two hits for damage scaling. Here is a good resource that explains it all: http://www.eventhubs.com/guides/2009/may/09/how-combo-and-damage-scaling-works-street-fighter-iv/
You must share that combo! The highest i can get is 622
689! hmm. that i have to think about. but please share it with us gunslinger. I’ve never even gotten past 600. @_@
18 hits
689dmg
no CH or DIZZY
full health
Just a regular Ryu standing there taking a beating.
I started off with a full super bar and a full revenge bar
Well. How about you guys post up your highest damaging combos? This way we can see what people get up to. We can then learn and maybe take things from each others combos to improve our own.
The whole reason why I posted was to see if someone could top this score - then I will learn something from them. So post your strings!
And yeah - j.RH, RHxxRH.TATSU does 403damage using no ex. Great punisher which could lead to further damage if you keep momentum and mix-ups. If you want a straight-up knock down… j.RH, RHxxEX.DP. Does the same damage but gets you a knock-down… and costs one bar.
RH is not an easy thing to connect when you have limited time to punish eg. a whiffed lp.DP. In situations like this - I opt for the standing FP. Comes out quickly and is reliable.
Okay Gunslinger. I don’t have my PS3 with me but i was looking at frame data and just thinking of combos i do and came up with something that could possibly be your combo. Here it goes:
jump in mk -> c.lk c.lp c.lp -> fp shoryu (2 in 1) to super and ultra
the ultra would only work if the super hits opponent towards wall.
Let me know.
