You are right about me being emotional. I’m very hype about finding yun’s worst match up being in his favor.
Don’t state things as if they’re absolute. Take the experiences you’re having with a grain of salt. Yun is a new character; simply beating a Gief doesn’t mean Yun wins the match up. It brings to question how familiar the Giefs you were playing were in the match up and how good they were overall.
According to Daigo, Yun loses the match up. Horribly. I’ve fought my fair share of [very solid] Giefs and that match up does feel very uphill.
Hakan is like 7 - 3 in Yuns favor. I have a lot of Hakan experience (I kno, rite?) and I can tell you that match up is free.
Can’t say much about Boxer or T Hawk at the moment.

Hey guys, I’ve been playing with Yun for the past few days and I’d like to share what I’ve found. I searched this thread to see if this has been posted, so hopefully I searched thoroughly enough.
As for EX palm, I’m not sure if it has full, upper, or lower body invulnerability, but I used EX palm at the same time that a Viper did an EX seismo, and the Palm won. The seismo still came out but it went right through Yun. So I’m guessing EX palm has at least lower body invulnerability.
Also, after using nj.hp to air-to-air my opponent, I did an EX shoulder after landing, and it would seem to actually cross-up. I say it is a cross-up because after they got hit by the EX shoulder, they were sent flying in the opposite direction that I was going. We ended up switching sides of the screen. I’m not sure if non-EX shoulders would have the same effect, and I’m also not sure if this is character-specific or if it has some weird timing.
So yeah, that’s my .02 on Yun that I hope hasn’t been discussed already.
against rose and abel (other characters too im sure) you can do
command grab --> low strong --> standing strong --> short dragon kicks --> ultra 1 midscreen.
the dragon kicks will hit once, letting you ultra juggle
ill have to try that sounds sick
Tackle Maeda is back on Yun in AE. Now I’m curious to see if he can pull off any damaging Genei Jin combos,
there should be a comprehensive list of combos that lead to ultra 1 off a command grab on all the chars…i think its a short on t.hawk
Guys, what are good setups for and what’s the best timing and button to use for his cross-up dive kicks? They look sick from what I’ve seen. Is it done by simply doing a low to the ground lk dive kick right when the opponent is flipping up from a grounded position?

Divekick xxx Buffer Ex lunge punch whilst in the air followed by c.mp when you land… Would that option select allow you to juggle into ultra 1 if there facing towards the corner and decide to backdash…

So I dunno if this has been talked about before, but I noticed this when I was playing yesterday.
Fucked up a Genei-Jin combo, and opponent jumped in while I had Ultra 1 loaded. Hit the Ultra 1 while still activated, and it doesn’t go into the full ultra animation (no zoomed in cinematic effect, just regular view) but Yun seems to be able to hit a regular super combo afterward. I only had half of the super left, and just did the fierce dash punch and didn’t followup but I’m like 99% sure you can just do the Genei-Jin combo after the Ultra 1 if already activated.
So this got me to thinking, if Yun’s Super and Ultra work in the same regards as Makoto, maybe there is a new combo yet to be found with the two. Like for example Makoto can cl.hp xx super into ultra 1 and it’ll combo, maybe Yun can do the same with cl.hp cancel the recovery frames with his Super then link his ultra 1 afterwards, and still have half a Super to add on more dmg.
Should be interesting and next time I have a Super/Ultra loaded, and get a chance to land a focus lvl2 I’ll have to try this out. Sorry if this has already been mentioned, just trying to find new things, haha.
It was determined a long time ago that you can combo after You Hou if you have Genei Jin activated before hand.

Not sure on that one. Perhaps you may be able to. Need to test it out. I doubt it however. Maybe if you are in a corner with Genei Jin and you mk launch jump cancel him then you may be able to Ultra. All speculation however.
Your gonna have to do something more like lp shoulder, genei jin, hk, lunge punch, ultra or close mk then ultra. IMO not worth the damage since you don’t get full animation and you lose a decent anti air option.
Yeah… totally testing it out this weekend when I get a chance to. I doubt it will do much damage but it’s worth a shot.
I did a lot of damage after Ultra 1 with Super activated. It was when Blanka random Ultra 1’d me and after I blocked I tried to Ultra and I did super instead and still did ultra, and then I finished the combo, it did a lot.
So it was kind of like Makoto going into super then ultra? Spam ultra after activate super?lol
