turns out i didn’t get recorded nearly as much as i thought i did (which is amusing considering i was in charge of recording and also co-hosting the tournament) so i only got 3 matches - one of them my cap doesn’t do much but keepaway but the other 2 are good - vs a guy in my crew i played him in winners finals and in grand finals - i kinda get stomped in grand finals but that’s alright they’re still pretty good matches every one of them within reach but things just went his way.

sorry i semi-choked it up in grand finals but koreanwhiteboy had been playing poorly all day and made sure he was ready for the finals while i was trying to host the tournament and make sure super and melee were finishing up hahaha
kwb is in my crew though and is good so i’m alright with it. but it woulda been nice to win one for cap eh?
Great video’s Gimpy! Too bad you didn’t win, I think you really had a good chance to take it, but c’est la vie. I know you are probably running through all the things you could have done already, so I’ll keep my feedback brief. Let me know if you want a more detailed breakdown.
- Against magneto if you have meter I don’t think there is ever a reason to push block his standard string. His 3 options from cr. L, cr. M, cr. H are a) xx EM Disruptor 2) xx fly -> S 3) S. All of them are punishable/put you at advantage so keep that in mind. You options respectively are a) throw b) shield slash/stars and stripes depending on range (or HSS if you want tobe really fancy, HCS gets stuffed by the S) and c) cr. L into full BnB
- Storm isn’t as bad as phoenix, but I think if she wanted to runaway you’d be kind of fucked. Ironman can sort of catch her, but your ironman is the worst guy on your team (

- Great hulk combos.I like that little relaunch combo you did and using th rock crush to finish off HCS. I think my feedback here revolves around 3 major pieces of advice
a) use more vertical gamma charge to pressure. try repeating it twice. I saw you get punished doing it once, but doing it twice is pretty much uninterruptible. This is very strong corner pressure.
b) After your standard BnB in the corner, try finishing with gamma wave xx gamma crush. It does more than what you were doing.
c) Anti air more with standing H. KWB was doing the standard early H from jump with Sentinel and it was destroying you. Standing H has armor and will always beat the H. You can make this safe by cancelling into gamma charge forward then away. - Moar assist! Cap is sooooo much stronger with assist.

i dont understand where you were seeing a hulk combo where i wasn’t doing gamma wave xx gamma crush unless i missed an input horribly. my hulk wasn’t really on point at this event as much as i’d hoped he’d be - gamma charge is amazing +5 on block yo haha
strom can’t forever runaway on captain america because her hitboxes suck and you can just move under her - if she REALLY insists on throwing stuff off a superjump then i can raw tag in hulk and gamma charge underneath her when she hits a button. i don’t think storm is such a bad matchup. but yeah my iron man isn’t very good he’s so awkward =(
i learned a long time ago to NOT standing H anti-air KWBs sentinel - it may LOOK like the standing h is the obvious answer - but sentinel can actually hit you from above the hitbox of the h and retract before your move hits - making you extremely vulnerable and extremely dead. seroiusly. it’s AWFUL and it definitely does NOT always beat the h - it just seems thatw ay.
didn’t think about the not pushblocking magneto though - that’s good to know i just like getting him away and making sure i’m not pushblocking in between his attacks for a counterhit rampage combo haha
anyway kwb was actually playing really off at that event - normally he doesn’t drop anything

A4:35 you could have finished him with gamma crush. and 13:53 in grand finals, but not sure if you were close enough to the corner.
Also not BnB but 3:59 in winners finals.
Re: standing H as AA - I know that sentinel’s H doesn’t have a hit box. Maybe I’m conflating with the jump S. I know as Hulk you can beat the S pretty well, and it seems like that works on H as well when I approach my friend.
1 more thing: To combo against storm (and other small characters) you need to wait to start your air magic series. I noticed you dropped the combo a few times in the winners finals against storm. I always have to remember this when playing against wolverine.
Hope I’m not coming off as critical, but just want to provide helpful feedback.
Well, first thing, let me say hat’s off to you for getting Ken’s improved BnB off in match. That extra damage is mighty tasty, and I liked that you could kill Wolverine in one combo. I’m going to restrict most of my comments to Cap and general gameplay since I don’t play Taskmaster or Wesker.
- Stop doing the air SS to start off the round. As you noticed, wolverine can punish you VERY hard for this. Try to cover this with assist before you start, that way if your assist gets tagged you can help get them out of trouble.
- You NEED to start stars and striping those dive kicks. Try M stars and stripes. It will get your out of that corner pressure and will always defeat dive kick if done neither too early or late.
- You should experiment with cartwheel timing and the taskmaster assist as cover. This mixup would help open up your game.
- Stop using crouch M as a poke. It’s bad bad bad. And stop ending your block stirng with crouching H. It’s very punishable. Since you have task, what I would consider your ideal block string is cr. L, cr. M (task assist), cr. H xx shield slash OR S depending on what happens.
- Another way to escape wolverine pressure is the charging star EARLY under the dive kick. This would have been VERY effective against the latter team you played since the charging star would have blown up his assists since they were both projectile (task and doom).
- Airthrow taskmasters mighty swing on block.

UPDATE: Dude! I just want to say I’m really glad you posted this video. Seeing Ken’s improved Bnb in action made me give it one more try and I can get it now in practice mode semi-reliably! It only does between 680k - 690k, so Gimpy’s is probably still the end combo for cap since it tops out at 750k, but it is 50k more than the basic combo and has the benefit of making slightly more than 1 meter which means Cap doesn’t use any meter to do it.
Yeah I agree on the crouching medium thing, it’s a habit I’ve been trying to break for the longest time. I do have cartwheel shenanigans now but the 2 videos I posted were against two guys which I play a lot so they kind of know all of my shit. I will try that early charging start thing, that does sound like something I need to work on because Wolverine gives me a very hard time.
The ken BnB is what I pretty much do every time I land a hit, it does around 700k with Taskmaster arrows and somehow still DHC into Taskmaster because the opponent is in the air that long. The only time I don’t do his BnB is in the corner which I just opt for regular air combo into Wesker into cartwheel then relaunch into air raid kick then low shield slash into 2 charging stars then my hyper of choice.

cap also nets you 1.5 meters through my bnb - but ken’s is more stylish haha
in the corner i’ve just opted to go for air tags and have options - i can airtag to hulk either up or down for enormously enormous damage off a basic mmhhs (contemplating shortening that combo a LOT for less damage deterioration haha) but if you can combo into wesker gun and a cartwheel then by all means keep cap in there.
i wish hulks OTG was faster - i mostly find it unreliable so i started using the gamma charge for a get off me (and a MONSTEROUS team hyper combo - thing does over 600k with my team) but i’m thinking about going back just so i can have a threatening throw game - as of now it’s throw and then mixups - which if it lands is great, but if it doesn’t then meh
Yeah, I used to rock the same team as you but instead of Iron Man it was Taskmaster and the Hulk OTG was doable but so unreliable when it comes to comboing off of a cart wheel. Some of the bigger characters just wouldn’t cooperate lol. I did play around with Anti-air Gamma Charge too and it’s a nice tool to have just get’s too predictable and easily punished via beam hyper and you are more prone to them BOGO’s
Double post inc. Some footage of me in a tourney I attended yesterday, I am still getting jitters and this was not my strongest showing Captain America wise but figured people might still want to see how I play. I am always looking for feedback.
Just watched the first video, pretty sweet, but when you started to go for that long BNB with Cap, it carried the opponent too far into the corner so when you went for relaunch the next shield slash didn’t connect. Try to be wary of getting into that corner so instead of relaunching you just do L charging star (x2) into Hyper Charging Star.
Anyone notice you can land Hyper Stars & Stripes off of a light charging star? You could do that, DHC into Taskmaster UP arrow super, into Phantom Dance with Wesker, probably. But you seemed to be doing just fine.
stars and stipes is so good - especially when paired with hulks level 3 damage level 1 super hanging on the end of it. 1 hit ko almost every character yayyyyy

Video 1) You mostly played really well in video one. I should do your jump back with d+H more to try and catch dash ins. The only bad mistake I saw was at around 2:20 you didn’t try to airthrow taskmasters mighty swing. That could have changed that match and you might have been able to keep captain alive.
Video 2) At 0:29 try doing the pre-dash like I mentioned in the combo thread. It goes like A+B xx Charging star. That might help with the charging star whiff - it looks like you waited long enough. 3:!2 OMG NO MOAR CR. M pokes! lol. 4:46 Against teleporting characters, super jump with Cap is really, really, really bad. Then can cross you up and you won’t change direction unless you do a shield slash which is really dangerous since you can’t call assist to cover you until you land.
Video 3) At around 2:20 it looks like you messed up your combo. If you do mess up, do the H shield slash and at least then you’ll get a mixup on the way down since the H will make the opponent fall higher than you. Against tall opponents like mags the shield may actually hit them on the way down. At 2:34, obviously you learned the hardway raw cartwheels are a bad idea. I’m guessing a 4:12 you messed up your combo again. At 4:38, you can try using Stars and stripes to surprise your opponent on the way down when you cross them up like that. You can use assist to make it safe. In this it definitely would have caught deadpool on the way down since he was pressing buttons. At 5:12 you got nailed by the air hyper from akuma. Too bad you weren’t fully landed, you could have Hyper Charging starred through and then DHC’d to Taskmaster up hyper. At 5:14 you could have stars and striped
Overall, I think you played pretty well with cap in these videos. You did drop a few combos, but the only time at was catastrophic was in Video 2. My advice would be to learn how to cover Charging star better with your assist. You very rarely use that move, but it’s very necessary for cap since his other midrange poke (air shield slash) has some problems as you saw in your matches. If you can learn to cover this move, you will have a fast move to move in as well as punishing most assists and projectiles from opponents. I also think you need to learn better pressure strings with Cap when facing rushdown teams. You have a good assist in taskmaster, so I think you could really benefit from ABC+assist xx shield slash or AB+assistC xx charging star.
Thanks for the feedback much appreciated. Yeah that whiffed charging star in video 2 made me go O.o. That crouching medium I wasn’t really trying to poke I was trying to push block and it was already too late. Like I said not my best showing I could have done better. Most surprising at all I never got to Final Justice anyone lol. There was that one combo in video 3 where it looked like I just suddenly stopped but I really wanted to Hyper Stars & Stripes some reason the input didn’t come out must be jitters I guess. I will try that block string of yours and try using Charging Star more and definitely not calling out assists when Akuma is coming in haha
Don’t jump in the air against Wesker if he’s far away shooting gun. You really shouldn’t be in the air against Wesker period. He commands air space. Stay on the ground and watch for him to get predictable with ground teleports. If they do a ground forward teleport without an assist you can c.L him out of it and do a combo. If they’re abusing the H overhead teleport dash forward under it or air throw it.
