I’m a Canadian who doesn’t care about hockey. Hell, I can’t even skate. There was something beautiful, however, about our Olympic win today. I may not be the biggest hockey fan but I was damn happy about the great sense of pride that win gave Canadians. Power to ya boys, great win.

I’m with LGP on this one. Why should we be careful? We won, ggpo America. So what if Canadian teams don’t win the cup every year, that shit’s easy to understand, the states put more money into their teams and get the expensive players, a heck of a lot are Canadians too.

The American Hockey team played a great tournament and exceeded expectations to get to a Silver Medal finish, something that should make every American sports fan proud. So why does anyone need need to re-validate themselves as the “superior nation” on the internet.

I just got into Vancouver today and the mood was electric, every stop on the Skytrain people would start cheering. Great sunny day too.
I was in an elevator with a family from the US decked out in their team USA gear and it was sooooo awkward. When I got off some people started cheering and I thought for a second that maybe I shouldn’t join in…but no, this is the one day when we can pretend we’ve got something over America so fuck it…

People hated Nickelback to the extent any other band is hated when they first pop up. Right now, though, hating on Nickelback is to society at large what blurting out “God doesn’t exist” is to the internet. It’s a placeholder where something clever or intelligent should go. Case and point:
