Third Strike

Good luck to the three people that won the 3s tourney. And please make our country proud, by not repeating the same mistake at Evolution!!! And also Frank you know everybody has there bad days i mean you gave it your best shot and thats all that matters same goes to J.R. and Vic. Laterz.

Man I wish I could have been in that 3S tournament. But I don’t think the world is ready for my Sean.

I just don’t get this ‘Console-slamming’ bullshit. You can’t pull that off in Japan because you’re on Linked Cabinets in tourney matches.

is the only qualifying tournament in the entire USA being held at camelot?

… it was held at camelot.

About the MvC2 team tourney.FROM WHAT I HEARD, it was cancelled because 1/2 of the entrance fees were supposed to go to funds for Team Japan and the other 1/2 was supposed to go to the winning team, but that the MvC2 participants didn’t want to give up 1/2 of the entrance fees to the funds of Team Japan like it was stated before.

Props to all who qualified! SHREK in da hizzouuuuuuuuz! JSJ sup bro, represent! Nice to see Bob up there again! Great job to Paul and J.R. and their mad 3s too! Shirts was lucky I let him slide this time(uh oh). Watson will earn redemption for last time. Gonna fug em up…err…Watson style! No surprise he was the first to qualify.

Valle, showin’ that when he wants it, he’s got it. I’m sorry, but if Valle was a surprise to anyone, they need to realize how stubborn they are. Valle has always been consistant and when he puts forth the effort he is always one of the best. Just because he chills for a while and doesn’t dominate ppl actually think he loses the ability and question whether he’s got it anymore? Seriously, Valle is no surprise, even if he qualified for everything. Years of owning and still folks disrespect the apparent skillz.

Cole, wtf? I’m dumbfounded.

Choi’s been overcoming the Japanese at SVGL tourneys so I have high hopes for him in Japan. Word up ta Buk the supreme master of Morrigan!

Tragic was really no surprise but good luck to the whole GGXX team as well!

Nelson, didn’t you tell me I should go? Wtf? heheh

Apoc.

Good Job Paul! I didnt know you were back in LA…

Oh I’m more stubborn then one might think.

there are quite a few ‘console slammers’…

even high ranked people who think it’s “okay”…

wheeee, let me just take out my penis and wave it in front of your face!!

fuck that shit. it’s retarded. it is not part of the game.

in basket ball, if someone goes over to shoot the ball, you don’t go SCREAMING IN HIS EARS to see if he messed up the shot or not. you don’t fucking pull down his pants to his ankles and then kick him. why do that in mvc2?

if it’s “competitive”, if it’s a “tournament”, why not implement something like basic manners?

this is not BASEketbal where you try to psych other out.

a SMALL mistake, ONE SMALL mistake, can cost you the game. when even a little change in execution can mean so much, why do these players gaining unfair advantage by doing this lowly actions?

i bet they’ll give out this pathetic reason. “i’m not physically doing anything to him/her. i’m not pressing his start button. i’m not diong anything wrong. it’s not like i punched him”

shut da fuck up stupid ignorant bitches.

you don’t see boxers turn around… cause showing your back to the opponent means you are running away…

banging the console when you are getting your ass fucked, should mean the same thing.

“OOOHHH, you are killing me and this one action can fuck up the whole game!!! no, let me BANG THE FUCKING MACHINE!!!”

faggots.

michael jordan doesn’t train making his shots while people scream on his ears.

gamers shouldn’t train doing combos while the opponent bangs on the console like a faggot.

it’s a cowardly act.

wheee… i guess i’ll just wear an oxygen mask + industrial earmuffs, then cover myself in every single fecal matter from hundreds of different species, splray myself with skunk ordor thingys, attach a jet engine to my back, and constantly have his mom suck my dick whenever my opponent looks at the screen.

i’m sure that’s fair.

No, but you put a hand in his face so he can’t see the basket.

BAWHAWHAHAHAHAHA

Thats going in the Sig

Banging the console is mostly banned. It can get you DQ’ed if it’s blatent enough. If this happened at SBO-Quals, no one brought it to my attention.

Yelling in your opponents ear is of course going to result in a DQ.

Pressing the buttons to mess you or opponents timing or wigging your stick is fine. When pressing buttons becomes slamming the console, wiggling the stick becomes shaking the control panel or yelling in frustration becomes screaming to distract your opponent is a judgement call. That’s why we have judges.

banging the console

Paulee is being pretty quiet even after Vic called him on that shit. Step up and apologize for that bitch move…

I’ve already apologized to Vic in private for what happened, i don’t feel I need to apologize to you, or LBeotch, etc.

I apologized not because I feel I did something illegal but because I know it did affect Vic, someone whom I consider a friend, and I know that things like this don’t usually happen between friends.

As far as what happened, yes I mashed buttons to mess up his timing. I did not shake the console, scream “boo” or stick my hand in his face.

As far as I know, mashing buttons is perfectly fine up until you start shaking the console, start screaming, etc. As Ponder said, that is a judgement call, made by the judges who were present at the time.

I was standing right there when Paul did blind super with Ken and tried to chip Vic’s Chun Li to death. Vic was jumping back when he did it and landed and started parrying all of it. When Vic was about to parry the last hit, Paul hit all 6 buttons hard (around the same when people activate customs in A2). Vic failed to parry the last hit and died.

While having no affinity towards either one, I felt like what Paul had done, wasn’t crossing the line of abuse. Was it a little shady? Maybe. But so is looking at people’s hands and also hitting the cabinet with your palm when you go to fake stuff. Whether you like it or not, it is part of the game and part of dealing with the pressure of winning.

distraction to win? o.O

Is that the Paul from UCB?

ucb paul is paul kim, not paul lee.

wheee paul lee!! good luck in japan! i thought you were gonna make me better… but nooooo.

  1. i didn’t go to SBO (cause i’m in norcal) and i didn’t see paul play…

my post wasn’t directed to paul, and i’m apologize to paul if it looked like i was talking about your incident and was commenting about it. i do not have a first person look, NOR a second hand look… (cause i still don’t quite know what happened) but if others didn’t feel it was abused, then fine with me.

  1. omni + ponder + others: how would that consitute ‘part of the game’? just cause it happens, doesn’t mean it should be allowed. you don’t see japanese players throw spit wads across the division to distract someone else on the “competitive style setup”. you don’t see them attach a dollar bill (or 10 yen bill) onto a fishing rod and distract the other person.

but, “we don’t live in japan, live with it.”. yes, i know. on the ‘side by side’ set up, it’s inevitable. i’m not saying we should really enforce these ideas. it’s impossible. so many judgemental calls, will result in many emotional outcries. the loser will complain. someone will be wrongfully accused. whatever the reason…

so, what i was saying is it should be part of “manners”… unwritten law that prohibits these kind of behavior…

i mean, sometimes people try to mash out of things humanly impossible… yet they try… maybe out of desperation, maybe to mess up the opponents timing, maybe BLAH, maybe BLAH.

but, in the end, it’s shouldn’t happen.

just… be courteous… if you made a mistake or did something stupid, you are giving the other person a chance to retaliate. if you are taking that advantage out in any form, then you are just not accepting your own self…

for the sake of argument, let say LFJA would have messed up on the parry for the last hit and then lost the match. we’ll never know, cause lets say i ‘bumped’ his hand by accident. even if it was accidental, even if LFJA would have messed up anyways, what i did MIGHT have affected the outcome…

it just makes me look bad… altho it shouldn’t matter (in the case LFJA has never parried the last hit and would have died anyways) and it shouldn’t have came up anyhow. (in the case LFJA has never missed a parry all his life and would have won, but was distracted and lost)

i’m not pointing fingers…

i’m not looking for apologies of consistent ‘slammers’. (i’ve played with paul for almost a year, and i haven’t seen/felt him slam once)

i was only speaking my opinion, cause i have been on the recieving end of many ‘slams’… and it doesn’t feel good… i’m not a good executer, so i would have fucked up anyways… who knows? but when that happens tho, you just doubt…

you doubt if i AM a shitty player. that i would have fucked up regardless.

you doubt your own skills. (not that i have much, but still)

that can affect you in similar situation and cause mistakes even if the opponent didn’t slam…

whatever… i’m WAY off tangent…

final note: be nice, cause being mean = you are gay. and if you are in fact gay, like Carnevil, then you are a girl.
