The entire map pool for this is pretty stupid actually. Katrina and Baekmagoji?
I mean seriously, if you had to pick 3 current maps to run a new tournament with- why take up two slots with Katrina and Baekmagoji?
Even if you were going to use the two main networks’ maps…
There’s Python, and Blue Storm ain’t bad (slight Zerg advantage statistically but nothing on the order of Katrina and Baek).
I would understand if only Katrina or Baek made it through (Baek makes some sense since it’s a weird circular imbalance as opposed to FOR AIUR) since the rest of the OGN/MBC maps aren’t much better balance-wise… they just don’t typically feature masses of carriers.

carriers extremely broken on that map, berserker couldn’t do anything but make gols that are way to weak:mad:
God damn that game was good. I thought Stork was going to throw that game away when he lost all his Dragoons in his initial push… but somehow he managed to make a come back after being in a terrible position. Good shit, bird toss!

Iris is actually pretty good- he’d been slumping for a while so it’s nice to see him in a semis for once, even if he got there through Bisu mistakes and then lost to Stork (awesome Protoss with sick PvT) on Blue Storm, Katrina, and Baek (PvT FOR AIUR).
He needs some more killer instinct and maybe a few lucky maps to get that spark, I think.
In any case, Stork is flat out better on a more consistent basis. Iris has his moments and streaks but it’ll take a bit more than that.
Flash v. Stork promises to be either really hype (crazy macro/micro wars) or really hilarious/lame (cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeese).
KTF’s prodigy in his first finals appearance, beating both of Lecaf’s aces to get there vs. Samsung’s ace in his first final since getting steamrolled by Jaedong in the OSL and forgetting goon range against Anytime in the PL GF (aka losing to both of Lecaf’s aces in the past 2 months).
Considering that Boxer got out-macro’d then 9pooled, NaDa went 0-3, sAviOr just looked sloppy, Bisu threw his chances away, and Jaedong is out… how the hell do we have such a hype finals??
In any case, the Flash curse has turned into quite the statement from Flash, knocking out a bunch of big names on his road to the finals- sAviOr, Mind, Jaedong(!), Anytime. He’s taken out the most dominant ZvT player convincingly, now it’s time to see if he can keep it up against the bird toss’s PvT.
And of course Stork is looking for his first Korean championship, and he seems as focused as ever- he’s bounced back from his OSL loss and the PL GF loss pretty well, all things considered. His PvT is sick, the maps favor him, he has more experience, he has finals experience.
I think the maps give Stork a huge edge- yeah Flash pulled off ONE win against Katrina-carriers but he was ahead on upgrades and played amazingly. Can he pull it off again against Stork? And again on Baek?
Maybe, Flash is crazy wtf.
Though- an all-cheese final would be AWESOME, given how much cheese we’ve seen since the Ro8.

Outside of the Maps selection i’d say Flash would really be the favorite. It will be hard to overcome the maps for Terran though. I think if Flash gets 1 game off Katrina then it’s his to win.
Flash vs Stork will be an awesome matchup, 2 beastly players. Terran vs Protoss. It’ll be amazing. I’ll be watching that live for sure. Skipped watching live all the other matches because of live streams being at odd times of the night. Gotta make time for this epic matchup though.
^Plus this one’s on the weekend so it should be less inconvenient for people to stay up.

These matches have been great. I’m still relatively new to SC, but I think I’m understanding the basics better and what to do/what not to do, depending on the maps and unit types.
Any good SC players willing to train me? :wgrin:
