I wouldn’t hate on Terran so much if they weren’t a fucking snoozefest all around. Everything about them is just so damn boring.
How can the most micro-intensive race be the most boring to watch?
I just don’t like their units and playstyle. As I said, they’re quite boring to me and aren’t really that interesting.
Terran units are OOZING with personality! What’s not to enjoy about their self-proclaimed badass attitude?
Zerg units are cool I guess, they don’t really have a personality though. That’s where the ultimate badass, the Overmind, comes in. He’s like the auto-cool aspect for the zerg. He picks up their slack.
The Toss are almost too cool to be cool, if that makes sense. If you showed all the races to a 10 year old, he’d probably flip out at how awesome the Toss are. Hence, they kinda lose some appeal once we’re older and realize there is more to science fiction than cloaking and teleporting and deep voices. Although their voices ARE cool.

Lurkers let out an evil giggle when you click on them multiple times. Guardians chuckle too in an evil way after you click on the same way so many times. That might be some personality aligned with their “bad guy” status of the three.

When Boxer first hit the pro-scene, Terran was considered a weak race. Most modern strats and build orders hadn’t been standardized yet; the crazy high-APM micro stuff that’s taken for granted in modern SC hadn’t even really been imagined yet.
Then Boxer more or less turned everything on its head. Dropships had been considered a weak unit that was too slow to be effective, but Boxer made it his signature unit, pulling out all kinds of drop tactics like fake drops, dropship/tank micro, dropping on multiple bases at once, etc. Vultures became particularly deadly since Boxer micro’d them for maximum effect rather than just laying indiscriminate minefields then having them stick around to add a bit of damage in fights. His infantry control was top-notch, creating plays like his marine + SCV rush against Yellow, or when he split marines to kill lurkers.
He created all kinds of cheese/proxy rushes. He came up with a lot of creative solutions to all sorts of situations. He won matches he shouldn’t have.
Boxer pretty much proved you could play SC a different way. You could actually play Terran and be taken seriously, you could have a standardized way to cheese your opponent, you could do serious damage with a small force, you could make use of weak/unorthodox units or techs, etc.
Of course there were other creative/stylish players who were really good, but none of them won as much as Boxer did with a race considered as weak as Terran at the time when Boxer was getting his start. None of them pulled off as many crazy feats on the big stage as Boxer.
Boxer pretty much defined an entire era of Starcraft. He also recruited iloveoov who was so dominant that his peak was pretty much an era unto itself.
To put it shortly, Boxer is pretty much the Michael Jordan of Starcraft; a player who dominated not only the game but the entire culture surrounding the game. Everybody who has anything to do with the game wants to be like Jordan/Boxer in regards to that game.
Semi-finals Wednesday Morning
Ok guys Anytime has a game late in the evening in the MSL i believe so Flash vs. Anytime will be at **1am Central **on Wednesday Morning instead of the normal 3 am. After that then Iris and Stork will play at 3am Central. I’m unsure of if they will move it up if Flash and Anytime finish early.
Everybody please be ready because the 1 am Central time is a big difference compared to the usual start and i’m sure it will throw some people off. Again…

Lmao, my bad yall. I could care less about Bisu. Just typed the wrong name. I honestly am always glad when Protoss lose. Mass or early Zealots has ruined my day one too many times for me to have any sympathy for them.
I’m sad much and anytime had to face each other but as long as anytime wins i’l be happy.
IMO much in his first 3 games played much better then anyone else in this whole tournament thus far…save for boxers last game which was pure RAPE:badboy:
When SC was still kinda new 98-01 i was too young to understand the depth it takes to play it at the competitive level and i started out with the zerg because at the time they were the easiest class to play as. As i got older and more into SC i switched over to toss because i figured out how effective a scrubkiller zealots+goons w/upgraded range were but then as i got better and started being able to hang with the good players it all changed. Suddenly all my previously effective tactics were useless and i realized how fucking expensive toss units are and how fucking hard it is to recover late game since toss can’t “heal”.
Not to knock the other 2 classes but IMO toss is alot harder to play as against a good player because a single fuckup puts u behind farther economically then it does ur opponent if it’s not the mirror.
Much vs anytime will be a great match i have a feeling one will rape the other in the first 5minutes.

Protoss units may cost a lot, but they gather money much quicker then any other race. They also build their structures more then twice as fast since one probe can start warping as many buildings as he wants. Only thing that hold them up any is building the initial pylon to get things going.
protoss units take awhile to make, and there recovery time sucks.

Speaking of name mixups… I’m a big fan of Tasteless’s commentary… but man, in one of the Jaedong/Flash games he said “Jaedong now has a second barracks to pump out SCVs as he can afford them.”
