Best news ever. I am stunned.
Multiyear GGPO liscence is awesome! I think that What Capcom and Sirlin have done by getting the entire SF2 comminity invovled in the development of this game is amazing. I have never seen anything like it from any other company and with any other game. This really is turning out to be game by the SF2 community, for the SF2 community and deserves to have all of the hype back!
Yes it has taken a long time to get finished but the end result will be a game with everything we really wanted - hit boxes in practice mode, balanced gameplay (weâll see but at least something new and interesting), GGPO-like online play. The only thing Iâm not sure about yet is the graphics and, really, that is the one thing I am the least interested in anyway. Get Hype!
Wow! Great news.
Every time some one bitched here about getting Tony as a consultant, I always suspected that he already was. My intuition was correct. lol.
I hope the news helps raise some brows and the hype.
Now, if we could only get a release date.
anyone and everyone (including myself) who has ever bitched about the incompetence of the HD Remix staff needs to bow down this very moment. Thank you for putting down your pride and outsourcing a superior networking product! I wish there was some tip jar on PSN so I could add a little when the game finally does drop. woo fâing hoo.
yeah man, youâre ultra smart
Maybe my PR interpretation skills are lacking, but doesnât that pretty specifically say SF:HD will NOT be using GGPO, but allude to SF4 having it? I mean thatâs great for SF4, and the results for SF:HD are great but it sounds like people are thinking âGGPO for HDâ which specifically aint gonna happen according to that postâŚ
interesting
It does sound that way, but itâs pretty unclear in my opinion.
He has at least consulted with them, and shown ways they can improve the netplay for SSFIIT:HDR. So either way, SSFIIT:HDR has at least benefited from it.
Let me make it completely clear: STHD will not be using GGPO.
STHD does still benefit from GGPO in two ways:
- There was no plan to use any kind of a rollback solution at all for STHD until GGPO demonstrated how great it was.
- Some consulting work I did at Backbone to suggest ways to improve their implementation before release may pay off.
I hope you realize what youâve just done for online play
Nobel Prize??
Ponder just made a lot of people shut the fuck up. Straight up beasting on fools.
this can only be topped by SFHD coming to Steam :wgrin:
Why? Steam blows.
Anyways, good news! Congratulations to everyone.
Seriously. It doesnât really matter when, but, it is extremely important, that SSFIIT:HDR comes to PC (and I agree, hopefully over Steam), if it is to live forever, and reach a much, much bigger user base.
This would be the difference between a 2 month fling and a long lasting epic. Steam simply is the undisputed online community. If this went to steam and 360, there couldnât even be a thought process as to which one I would buy. Anyone who has used both services would understand steam is decades beyond XBL.
I second that, SFIV is coming there aswell :wgrin:
Dude
Do you remember that drink I didnât get to buy you at Evo?
I am buying you like 5 in 09
The bottom line is that ponder has given his stamp of approval on STHD netcode:tup:
alllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.
The worst Iâve head so far are along the lines of âThey donât fit with SF2âs imageâ, or that theyâre more like Alpha or SF3. But Iâve only read a few comments.
Not seen anyone post this
