^ ^ ^ Yeah, jyeesh. What do you think iPhones are for? People act like not everyone in San Fran is rich or something! :looney:
I wonder what Gamespotās making them play on for SFHD, controller-wise. One would hope theyād have some sort of arcade sticks of reasonable quality.
Do we know if any/many SF2 players are there? ⦠or is it mostly just random fanboy public? Actually, how and when was this even announced?! Yesterday was the first Iād heard about it, and it sounds like a pretty frickinā hype event to not have already been mentioned all over SRK, even if itās being run by some corporate dudes and not the hardcore community itself.
Gamespot? Probably bowls of broken glass and bull semen.
But seriously, Iām sure Capcom is bringing along some shit to play on⦠they had madcatz protypes and Hori Ex sticks at the Age of Booty party.
ā¦gotta say, those madcatz protos look like the best retail sticks ever.
From MADCATZ no less. I can remember when the only good thing about madcatz was the fact that their cheapass garbage controllers were easy to hack and you could find them at the blockbuster down the street for like 8 bucks.
Was there a press embargo on Battle of Destiny? It seemed like it took too long for info from that to come out and I think the same is going to happen here.
EDIT: Wait there couldnāt have been one it wasnāt a press event, info just came out late.
Any pics of the prototype?
^^
Its in the tech section of the board.
if the embargo blocks any media of this HD Remix tournament from appearing and staying on youtube, then the marketing people can go to hell. Blocking media at this point
of getting the game ready to be approved, put up and sold, isnāt gonna increase the amount of hype and sales. In the end, the art takes care of the business. The business doesnāt take care of the art. But they got it backwards.
Itās already decided who will buy HD Remix and who will wait for SF4, and who will get both, so they should quit playing Bugs Bunny and come out already with the final version media and allow people to spread the visual and technical goodness. Both the consumers and
the company will benefit from it.
just came back from a STHD tourney held in San Francisco ran by gamespot. yes full sthd, all chars avail to play
got a good amount of games. here are my first impressions
overall chars look bigger. its just zoomed up a bit closer, but everything feels the same. at first i thought it was slower, but now i think it just looks a lot better so it only seems slower, kinda how like sc4 seems slower at first, but eventually feels like any other calibur.
chun - her new SBK arc is crazy. resembles kens juiced air hurricane without all crazy distance, maybe half. hits on the way up an down and if it hits as an anti-air, then it hits them multiple times. is not an overhead.
lightning legs comes out super easily. i like to do two cr. forwards, but i found myself doing only one and then mashing out lightning legs on accident. just gotta slow down and hit each forward and not mash like you used to be able to in vanilla ST.
store super is still good. less damage, but if you hit it you are still in a dominating position as in ST.
gief - same shit. didnt do hcb or whatever motions, stuck to 360s and they worked just as well.
green hand being an SRK motion is weird. wasnt it 632 instead? took me a bit to get used to, just gotta break habits.
running bear grab is a bit better imo since you can just do the easy motion instead of dry 360.
anybody with cams recording over there? Iām actually hyped for this game again!!
thanks for the info! Um hey. what do mean you by her Spinning Bird Kick?
I canāt imagine it like Kenās air hurricane kick, unless you mean performing it
as you jump forward (not as you come down). **So youāre saying itās kind of like
Sakuraās hurricane kick (rainbow pattern but not vertical.) ? **
Thatās a real bummer it sounds like itās not full screen like her original SBK.
so even her roundhouse version doesnāt go straight and full screen? hmmmm.
glad the lighting legs takes less kick presses to start it. well no words can
detail the sprites like good screens and videos, so guess weāll have to wait
tommorrow for that stuff.
San Francisco tourney was awesome. Like insom said, full version available.
Iāve only ever played Vega, so execution was a problem messing around with the other characters for me, did it anyways.
Fei seems way dope and a lot of fun to play. I was terrible at comboing rekkas, but the improved chicken kick is insane. Pokes seemed to have nice priority, and the flame kick worked well as anti-air and on wakeup. I think people who main Fei are gonna be happy.
Gief and Sagat are HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE and its awesome. Not hardcore enough to know about any hitbox differences, but playing against Gief with Vega everything worked like it was supposed to. They look so good, and this game is so different from ST anyways, that I know I donāt care about any discrepancy.
Cammy still seems bad, but what do I know. People playing her were just mashing anyways. Without James Chen around who can play her?
Bison is funny, since the camera is zoomed in closer his devilās reverse takes him practically off the screen. He seemed really good too. Pretty much the same Bison from ST, though that could easily be unfamiliarity with the game.
Guileās f+rh overhead whiffs on a crouching blanka (and maybe others, who knows. Didnāt test except on Blanka and Sagat), and boy does his rh flash kick move him forward, it looked like over 1/2 screen forward. I kept doing it for giggles since it looked so awesome, and getting 360āed. Wheeee.
I played a little Dhalsim, and he felt really really slow for some reason. Probably my own reaction times, but he felt like he was moving around in mud. Slide into noggie seems pretty easy to reverse out of.
Thatās all I have. Game is incredible.
wait. so did you win the tourney? how many matches did you win?
chuns SBK, yes an arc like sakuras, but it goes higher, to the top of the screen. goes about the same distance though.
its fun to do cr. forward xx SBK. get them to block it and do it again. scrub killer if they cant shoryu or think to jump back counter.
didnt win. format was single elim, best of 1. 32 capped bracket. i got to the thrid round and i think it was win 6 matches for the 1000$ prize. only first paid out.
oh thanks. good job winning some.
WHOA!!! FREAKING HOLY WHOA!!! her SBK goes THAT high??? O____O
that seems really interesting. any guess if she does the same or close to the amount of rotations as her original roundhouse SBK? it just doesnāt feel like a SBK if she only spins like 3 times in her strongest version of that special
**back then it really felt epic finishing with a roundhouse SBK and she keeps on spinning. ** :lovin:
grrr. how dare they those people who didnāt learn to play Cammy just mashed with her. I woulda won that whole tournament with Cammy if I was there. XD
Very happy to hear that mash specials are easier now. It sound like youāll be able to activate Hundred Hands/Electricity/Lightning Legs with 4 presses(good for pad warriors).
Insomnotek: Did Zangiefās Green Hand appear to have any extra range or less recovery?
Wat.
Although from of physics standpoint, the arc makes more sense.
Onikage posting under insom nick
sticks were Hori fighting stick ex 2 I think, white with green trim. They werenāt perfect (Iām being really nice), but it was nice that they had so many of them.
ha, well they really had their bases covered providing some kind of arcade
experience with the controllers. How many booths they had of the game?
It sounds like there were a lot. I wonder how they organized the crowd of people and made the tourney flow smoothly?
**Were the HD Remix booths in a sort of American Gladiators trench pattern? **
honda vs dhalsim
