Official SRK Ultra SF4 Rebalance Request Thread

This is a good post but needs a darker font.

I agree that Capcom should take the “buff the weaker characters” strategy over the “nerf the stronger characters” strategy. Yun and Fei Long might require some very minor tweaks, but nothing major. The emphasis should be on making the rest of the cast strong enough to give the top tier characters some competition.

The problem with buffing the weak characters vs nerfing the strong ones is that you make far more changes to the game that way. That isn’t bad in and of itself, but you are FAR more likely to introduce new problems doing that.

Daigo lost because he went into xboxlive mode and mashed dp on wake up continuously not because of any percieved weakness you think Yun has. Go back and watch the Poongko match, 1 round he mashed dp 4 times, 3 of those dp’s were consecutive. I don’t blame Daigo however because Seth puts you in the same shitty guessing game that Yun does, if EVO proved anything it’s that if you give a character that many options the only way to beat that character even at the highest levels of play is to mash like an imbecile or psychic guess consistently, top 8 was full of this type of play.

Abel should be completely unnerfed, his super iteration was perfect, the cr.hp nerf, roll nerf & damage nerfs hurt him more IMO than the Breathless nerf.

Oni definately needs some help, maybe a faster fireball and an FADCable DP, something that makes him a little bit more solid & less gimmicky overall.

Cody needs a faster walk speed and at least 1 safe special, maybe LPCU. HK Ruffian hitting crouchers & f+HK should be considered airborn, i mean he does actually leave the ground. Leave his poor defensive options.

Leave the twins alone. They are “complete” characters. “Complete” the rest of the characters. Fix their deficiencies.

I’d prefer they made reversals non-FADCable.

Evil Ryu

Better SRK, trades too much for a char with such low stamina/stun
Faster sweep for Akuma like shenanigans.
Somehow make dive kick able to cross up.

My dream e. ryu.

I’d have no problem with that, in fact it’s a great idea but like i said Oni is too gimicky atm, he needs something ??

Keep in mind that the game is stil NEW and you really think all of Evil Ryu’s tricks have been discovered? At least give people time to figure him out before you call him a bad character. Because in the match Mr. Naps played against J. Wong he bodied him HARD. And J.wong was using yang and rufus two “good” characters.

Please buff Zangief by giving his MechaGief costume a robot voice.

Lol, I know that is a good tool and they should keep it but you know capcom they over nerf, look at abel, guile and rog. So they are going to change it for the whiners and when/if (most likely when) they do should be -1 on block.

Whats with the adon revert? Adon is fine right now.

Ken: Not much, but I would at least like his Air EX Tatsu overhead back. Also, his U2 needs something… anything. If it also hit low, that would be awesome, because I hate that you can just crouch and not even take chip.

Yun: The SMART way to do this is take away advantage and/or block safe on EX lunge, reduce Genei Jin time (less time = less damage, because let’s face it, if you are activating, you are GOING to get damage), and fix the ridiculous hit box or priority or whatever it is with palm juuuuust a little. Also, I kind of feel like his target combos are a bit too powerful. Any of these things would help bridge the gap between him and the rest of the roster.

Fei Long: Maybe just tone it back a bit to almost where he was in Super; he was still really good.

Viper: I say don’t touch her. She’s really good now.

I also feel like Abel, Cammy, Ryu, Boxer, Rose (Satellite), and Gen should be closer to what they were in Super (vanilla in Gen’s case) to make them stronger. I still think Guy should be less floaty (buff). I like that Zangief’s U2 is a threat now, but that SPD range is just a little bit much. And I can’t put my finger on it, but Vega could use a very slight nerf in some area. Oh, and can we nerf the hit box on Sakura’s cr. fierce? Personal reasons. Overall, Ultras should get balances where they are needed; from a spectator’s point of view, it’s not as interesting when everybody knows what the “good” Ultra is. Choices. Variety.

Bottom line for me is buff or don’t touch everybody for the most part, nerf the twins (or just Yun), but be smart about it. I really want to see the variety of picks we had in Super come back.

Oh god, please no. The changes they made to Gen were really pretty universally beneficial to how he’s played now. Maybe if he was closer to what he was/what he had in Vanilla, that would make much more sense.

  1. NO NERFS. PERIOD. Yes, that means keep Yun, Yang and Fei Long where they are.
  2. Restore Sagat, Akuma, Ryu and Rufus to Vanilla form.
  3. Restore Chun-Li, Guile, Honda, Cammy and Abel to Super form.
  4. Buff the other characters so they can compete in a higher-powered game. (I’m not too familiar with the specifics of those, so I’ll let the others more knowledgeable about them speak for the buffs they need.)

Change his motions back to 3rd strike with uppercut/teleport

his roll kicks back to 3rd strike with 0 invincibility but his ex roll kick has invincibility on startup for 4 frames. but non ex moves if he lands lk it will trade but him flipping just like ssf4 ryu uppercut ect or if combo’d into he can throw a jab or another roll kick after using light/medium/heavy roll kick just like 3rd strike aka he can juggle after landing the roll kicks if it trades OR if he lands then and he lands quick enough for a mix up or just wants to keep the knock down, fits his mix up style even more.

his teleport heavy and medium recover faster and his light recoers a little faster but his ex teleport slightly nerfed in terms of invincibility towards the end.

standing light punch doesn’t hit people crouching anymore

EX mantis slash has way better frame adv and block stun

Nerf palm active frames by a bit 1-2 frames.

cr.lp has 1frame of better hit stun and block stun

cr.hp comes out 4-5 frames faster and slightly better hit box if done it will be and can be used as a real solid anti air, -4 on block for boost in terms of frame/hitbox

and that’s it for yang.

Cammy - give her the old HK SA back. No TKCS is OK but the nerf to HK SA does not make much sense.

Ken - faster walk speed.

Rufus: increased damage on EX Messiah. EX Messiah should not fly over some crouching characters like Ryu (who is already a bad matchup).

Restore bnb damage which was nerfed over the 3 games.

Health increase by 50 or 100.

Standing HK should have a better hit box, so that it will scoop up Ryu’s c.MK for instance at the right are. It’s still a risk/reward move, but this makes it more viable.

c.HK should be faster with less startup/recovery.

Slightly increased range on c.MK would make it a viable poke in footsies.

Give him back Ultra 2’s AA properties (as it stands, Ultra 2 is nearly worthless without it).

Slightly more damage off of target combo into ultra. This was toned down and it really hurt his game.

With these changes, Rufus goes up to maybe high mid tier, bottom A tier. As it stands he’s been slowly but surely nerfed to low mid in AE.
I love the character, but it’s no wonder that Rufus players switched to Yun in high numbers. Yun just has sooo many more options, and really makes Rufus feel neutered by comparison.

Can’t Cody’s Crack Kick be considered off the ground and thus unthrowable? Like oh I dunno every other Hop Kick in the history of SF?!
