Official SRK Ultra SF4 Rebalance Request Thread

Rufus U2 was pretty dumb.

Im not complaining about it can punish fireballs but that ultra does EVERYTHING.

In this game you seriously could considering that half the problem with AE isn’t that the Twins are so good, it is most of the cast got stupid nerfs. I was just as pissed about some of the changes from Super to AE as I am with the current changes.

Ryu’s c.MK change was retarded since that was core to his game play
Abel got a bunch of “WTF?” nerfs when he wasn’t that dominant to begin with
Charge characters collectively got nerfed. Some make sense while others were just dumb.

One of the only reasons Akuma was at the top of the tier chart was because everyone else got castrated while Akuma only got minor nerfs.

No that’s not the only reason at all. He was still top in Super because his fundamental gameplan (Using a knockdown to run obscene mixups in his favor) works so welll in the game that you’d have to try very very very hard to make it ineffective. Something that has yet to be done.

He was B-Tier in Super. He had his good match ups and he also had some down right miserable match ups against characters like Cammy and Rose. For the most part though his match ups were just 5-5. Just like in AE most of his match ups are 5-5.

Those “Obscene” mix ups aren’t easy to run and not to mention with the stun nerf you can mix up someone 4-5 times and still get no stun. It only takes one bad mix up to even the match. In addition most people don’t know how to actually play against Akuma’s vortex.

When did that turn into a legitimate excuse? “Don’t nerf this amazing character that pretty much runs over most of the cast…because he’s hard to play?”

Um when that is actually a good game design? You know where more skill = better performance?

Right, I agree with that. The problem is Akuma + the basic semblance of execution already = a problematic character. Exploring his options reveals a character with a silly amount of options to cover everything he does to make it safe. Which is an extremely powerful thing to have in this game. Add to that his 3-frame DP and teleport for escaping, along wth air fireballs, you have this character who can pretty much run over every single character…the only ones he doesn’t are the ones who are better than him, which is realisticaly maybe 3.

I think he’ll live, especially when he can still do the same style of mixups that are covered by OS’s to cover most escape options that people have while having the best escape options possible.

why don’t you get over your self? none of those were actual moves that got removed, they were changed. i wasn’t complaining, i still like my character enough to use him. i think he’s viable.

Frankly if people actually just blocked instead of thinking they have to do something every time they wake up they just might be able to get out of the Vortex.

Yeah but the problem is that Akuma keeps up his pressure after you finally get out of the vortex. Taking away the palm overhead somewhat remedies this because Akuma actually needs that pressure more. fst.HK being -2 seems a little extreme, maybe -1 so Akuma can’t just press buttons after you block it. Damage nerf seems completely unnecessary though.

So your issue is with the attack animation.

If the same level of skill with another character would get you stomped, it’s a problem.

Hit boxes completely changed.
Start up completely changed.
Active frames completely changed.
Recovery completely changed.
Animation completely changed.
Hit stun completely changed.
Block stun completely changed.
Damage changed.
Intended use of move: almost completely changed.

Have any other moves in the game had at least five of these changed at once?

I don’t have an issue with it. Someone said “Akuma has been hit the hardest!” I disagreed and posted two characters that I think have “lost” more options. I have an issue when people don’t take the time to read and automatically put on their “OH IT’S THIS AGAIN” goggles.

Your right it would be. Too bad when that is the case in SF4 it is because the other character is usally gimped.

What you don’t seem to understand is that most of the imbalances are due to the lack of tools not the excess of them. When you look at the characters who have bad match ups against Akuma they are usually characters who just suck at waking up anyways.

Based on…your perception of what the right level of strength for a character is. Which is to say, nothing.

Considering AE is the weakest Akuma has ever been (along with dozens of other characters), yea I think I have a good perception.

Seriously name me how many characters Akuma dominates easily and I’ll show you why those characters have problems. Namely they had serious problems waking up to begin with.

Of course you think your opinion is good. It’s your own opinion. What I’m saying is that you’re stating it as if it’s a fact and we should all just agree on it. That’s dumb.

I don’t feel like this discussion would result in anything of substance. Most importantly, no matter the result, it wouldn’t really imply anything about whether or not Akuma needed a nerf.

None of that means anything when you’re talking about functionality. The functionality of many moves for many characters have been completely altered, not just Seth’s j.fierce. For example, EX Oga. This move is now basically useless, when before it was a reliable escape option for Gen.
